To be honest... A little disappointed. I waited until the last second; until my hunger overtook me, with that "empty pit" in your stomach feeling. I thought, "maybe I'll go to Charlie's, because it's quick, fast, and to the point." I parked in the parking lot at 8:37, walked in to a nearly empty Charlie's, figuring, GREAT, that this will be quick. Ignoring the fact that I wasn't greeted, waited silently there until 8:47. Two employees behind the counter, at a nearly empty joint at 830, I thought I was SET. Nope. One guy finally walks up nearly ten minutes later to say "pick up or ordering?" I said ordering to which he abruptly told me the wait is going to be at least 30 minutes. To which I said okay because I really wanted cheesesteak at this point. Then he did not even take my order, and immediately went back to the kitchen to work on something else. But I do believe it would be unfair to tell you that one of the only people waiting inside the restaurant with me at this point unbeknownst to me was another employee that had not clocked in for their shift yet. The first gentleman comes back up to the counter and says hey to the other employee off the clock and says hey I'm going to need you to clock in now if you can to which the employee responded back, "I need my minutes." Disgruntled, you could hear the employee behind the counter say softly he's about to write that employee up.
Mind you it was 8:57 at this point so it's assumed that the other employee wasn't going to clock in until 9. PETTY.
This is not how it seems that person is not a team player and should not have a job at all let alone be working with a team that NEEDS team players.
It's not even like this employee is an avid cigarette smoker or has a reason to need those three minutes because they are currently sitting at the table nearest to the door inside the restaurant. Staring at their phone, like a mindless drone.
Needless to say I felt for the first employee at this point, so when he finally got to asking me what I was going to order I kind of told him and then he responded to me pulling my card out to let me know I have to push the button that says no tip before I slide my card. Probably because he's so used to not getting tipped for his service that he's contributing to people that are walking on him. So I cash Tipped him and let him know that life goes on. I admire his restraint while dealing with a...
Read moreJust went there and stood for five minutes. I was the only customer, at the front of the lack of line. During this time, the cook was busy and made eye contact so I smiled as I usually do. The, what I assume was an assistant manager or manager, saw me, also saw me and I smiled and made eye contact. He then milled around and then disappeared to the back. When another customer came up, he emerged and ignored me and went to help them. I was a bit confused but just waited. He was finished with that customer and said something I assumed was addressed to me which included âbossâ which I see as a negative connotation. The other customer said he was talking to him, so I said okay sorry. They ended their conversation and I tried to order an âold school cheesesteakâ and I was told they were all out. I have never been to this location and I certainly didnât say anything offensive beyond mentioning I donât like being called âbossâ. Which I accepted that I was mistaken regarding the conversation being intended for the other customer that I thought was leaving. Regardless, the person made no mention of what they have in stock. So I left without anything to eat. I will never return to this location. As I am replaying the situation in my head trying to figure out what I did wrong. I didnât even say a word before the...
Read moreCharleyâs is a solid choice in the Med Center area for cheesesteaks & typical American food fare. Located conveniently off Main Street & Buffalo speedway tucked in the shopping center with the Specâs Liquor, Raising Canes, & 7 Spice.
The staff is mostly younger twenty somethings whom are generally good people with great customer service.
The food is mid tier: not the greatest sandwich Iâve ever had, but by no means the worst. Coincidentally they have great soft-serve ice cream, but more often than not the machine is âbrokenâ or the cones are stale. This is a major missed opportunity as far as I am concerned because with such a great recipe for ice cream that rivals McDonaldâs different options, toppings fruit and otherwise could create a solid customer base.
The interior is nice with wooden chairs and enough room to seat 40-45 people comfortably. Itâs well lit and restrooms are offered which they do a good job of keeping cleans.
Refreshment options are solid as well: soft drinks, shakes, tea, and juices with added fruit syrup that makes for a...
