It's very disappointing, I am a Jewish kosher keeping and I used to really enjoy coming to this restaurant . For my anniversary, birthday and when my mom came to visit from out of the states I always went there. I have 4 kids. I celebrated my daughter birthday over there and we had a great time like always. Exactly a week later , I went to celebrate my son birthday and it was a NIGHTMARE!!!! We sang happy birthday to my son just like we did the past week to my daughter, and than the supervisor came up to me after we were done with the singing and said "can you keep you kids down because some people are trying to eat and enjoy themselves?! " in a ton and am attitude! My husband was in the restroom at the time and when he came back I told him about it , he requested the waiter to call the supervisor once more . Then my husband ask him what was the problem of us signing a birthday song to our son and before he (my husband) got a chance to finish the question, the very rude guy interrupt him and said that the restaurant across the street just opened a special room for families who dine with kids and maybe we should go there the next time !!! That was over the top!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We sat there , 6 people in total with a 200$ bill which is incredible high for the level of food but we did it because we are Jewish and we care about the kosher . We never complained about our bill or anything else but that was the worst experience I have ever had ! I will NEVER come back there . I am a parent from Beren academy where genesis serve hot lunch if you pay for it of course and they will never see my business again !!! The only reason I gave 2 star and not 1 is because the...
Read moreI was really hoping for a good steakhouse in Bellaire. My two star rating is measured against the top tier steakhouses in Houston for reference. The atmosphere is nice, very sufficient for a good sit down meal, has some interesting appointments: a feature wall of color, a tree in the center, and some live music, but overall you won't find the design featured in any local magazines. My biggest issue from our visit (6 guests) was the service, repeated requests to fill our water, we were never asked if we wanted another glass or wine or cocktail. Those with soda were not provided any refills either. We ordered 6 appetizers, one salad came out and my wife asked "Are you sure this is the Asian salad" and was met with a courteous "yes"... moments later, our server came back and grabbed the salad with a polite acknowledgment of the mistake. 13 minutes passed before the correct salad was presented, as she watched us consume our appetizers. Moments after her salad arrived her entrée (7 oz filet) arrived only to be set in the middle of the table cooling as she had not finished her salad. We had 4 - 7 Oz filets at our table, the steak was "satisfactory". Consistently, the texture and quality was sub par to any "Prime" grade beef I've had a the leading steakhouses. It was simply not as good, period. It is not the same cut, thinner, slightly chewy, and does not melt in your mouth like a Prime piece of meat should.
Overall, you can go here and have a good dining experience, but don't expect or compare Genesis to the premier or elite steakhouses in Houston - it is simply the next level down in nearly...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I were here for lunch on Sunday. We are absolute foodies, and between the reviews and pictures this place was an absolute match. The restaurant wasn't terribly busy, but had two large tables and a few couples scattered about. When looking at the menu, absolutely nothing stood out, but we are into trying new things. We ordered the shwarma fries, and a couple of burgers. How this place claims to be a steakhouse is beyond me. There was one steak option on the menu. The fries were good, but the burgers were absolute garbage. The fried pastrami tasted like soggy bacon, the burger was dry, and had no flavor. The only thing my dish had going for it were the pickles. Food aside, the service was an absolute travesty. It felt as though the waiters themselves must have been doing the cooking because they sure weren't serving the guests. We were there for over two hours, and it only took us 20 minutes to pick at the food. I usually give places more than one try, and it is unfortunate to say I will not be returning. It gets two stars only for the pickles.
Review edited to say: the owner came back with a sassy remark saying I'm a dishonest reviewer. It is almost impossible to complain to the staff when you barely see them. My review stands. I am not complaining just to complain, or receive anything out of it. I am reviewing to give honest feedback on a...
