Finally, a delicious vegetarian restaurant that actually has flavors. Our family has been eating at Duy sandwiches for years because they ethically serve Buddhist vegetarian food (no animal products like fish sauce and eggs).
This place really delivers on the flavors and the presentation is very nice. I got too excited and ate without taking any pictures. We got the hot pot because it is highly regarded by the staff. It's very yummy for vegetarian. I got a bún chả giò and the vegies tasted fresh, which is appreciated because some Viet restaurants lack in this area. I was surprised when the owner came out and served us. She claimed that her meals are cooked fresh daily with organic vegetables.
At the time that we visited the restaurant had only been opened for 10 days. I can see that reflected in the service. You can tell they are a bit short staffed and are trying to adapt to the influx of Buddhist customers that come through.
The decor is very beautiful the very moment u step in. The entrance is very inviting and makes you feel like u are immersed in culture. There is a beautiful wooden buddha statue surrounded by fresh flowers at the front of the restaurant. Everything is in a wood motif with careful attention to details.
THIS RESTAURANT IS CLEAN! So happy that a new place open up in Houston that caters to vegetarians that isn't in the "American" Price range. With that said, this place isn't cheap but I think it's worth it for the money. The atmosphere alone is...
Read moreWe were excited to find this vegetarian restaurant focused on Vietnamese cuisine. However, when we got here on Sunday, it was unfortunate that the restaurant staff was dealing with a leakage. They were still able to accommodate us, and we took a spot. The Ambience was Great and calming. There were a lot of plants around us, which gave the space a lot of greenery. We play a star order, and it started to come out pretty quickly. However, there was some confusion with what we thought we had ordered, and what came out to our table. When we expressed that to a server, it was met with resistance, and it was like they didn’t care. As soon as we experienced that vibe, we were turned off, and just didn’t feel like we wanted to do eat there, and we requested a server that we would pay for the appetizer that they had brought out and cancel the rest of our order. However, on hearing that the server quickly changed their stance and was like it’s OK. I will get you what you needed. Other than that. The food was average. I ordered the lemon grass drink, which was probably the only thing that I truly enjoyed on the menu. Everything else left me...
Read moreUsing the name and image of BUDDHA to CAPITALIZE & PROFIT. I wonder if they even donate a dime to any buddhist temples!!
also the serving staff is very RUDE, and makes witty comments when you ask questions about the menu… This is strange because I know for a fact Buddha promotes peace.
Prices are crazy. and realize this is vegetarian food. 4 small eggrolls filled with bean paste are $6.50. And all the entrees and such are approaching $15. They are fueled by greed and ill moral. Sad to see how many buddha images and models are all over the building but the atmosphere is anything but peaceful.
And lastly all the worker ladies have botox addictions. They look like stretched out balloons. 😂😂😂
Won’t be back! HERES MY RECOMMENDATION: Go to a buddhist temple on the weekend and just get lunch there. They sell food on the weekends that is Vegan! Cheap! and Taste better! While also actually supporting a buddhist temple with good...
