was not expecting thisā¦..I have been to lots of different local cuisine, and Z lounge definitely hit different, something unique around Houston.
Itās all prepared when you order and fresh, taste like my grandmaās food, Iāve heard that Haitian food is the best but now I see why. I had the GRIOT š¤¤, the GREENSš¤Æ, the FRIED BEEF, which was a good way to try a few different meats. The rice, OMG.
They were all so good and under priced. Had for for days and spent under $50. I also had a side of FRIED PLANTAINS with that spicy PiKLIZ, yooooo itās worth trying, Zās is one of the best Iāve had at any restaurant in Houston. You can do take out or seat and listens to some good music. Sammy take your order, I think she is the owner, nice and polite person, very friendly staff. and AGAIN the prices are quite reasonable for what you are getting. I cannot wait to go back again while Iām in Houston, and I would highly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI ordered legume and didnāt expect spinach stew with carrots only. The legume was disgusting. This is not how legume is suppose to look like nor taste like. I will stick to Sonya kreyol kitchen instead. I was giving place a try out but if I saw the pic of legume look like this o would never buy it. The taste and look is mediocre this is not Haitian food! Legume is made with cabbage, eggplant , coyote, spinach, beef or pork.
The rice had no salt and Grenada drink did not taste like passion fruit. This was a major fail. I suggest they change the cook. I threw the plate away and purchase Sonia kreyol food. Donāt waste your money or time on this place. The food is terrible, I regret going there. The plaintains are black n overcooked. I sent pic to my Haitian friend in Miami who owns a restaurant she laughed and asked me if the cook is a Haitian because the food is a disgrace...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreItās food, but it is not Haitian food. There is A LOT of room for improvement. I fell for the Instagram page/pictures and was fooled. The plantain looks and tastes like it was fried in old oil or the same oil that fried the meat. Or a fried plantain that a beginner was just learning how to make when youāre an adolescent. What Haitians call, ā yon banane sotĆ©ā Haitian baked macaroni is not made with elbow macaroni- the cheese sauce is just peppered cheese over elbow macaroni boiled with oil and saltš¤¢š¤¦š½āāļø. The meat was not fried properly it just tasted like boiled in spices meat. The pikliz is just cabbage overly soaked in vinegar. The pĆ¢tĆ© korde is very doughy and overly fried. Either improve or please donāt advertise this as Haitian/Caribbean food. I was looking forward to enjoying this Haitian spot, but was...
