Before this last experience visiting Spring Garden with my significant other, I had only formed one memory of actually being inside of the establishment which had in 2009 been known as the highest costing fanciest restaurant in town all together, though I remember it being far less than expected in regard to the official opinion of our little, granted we would not have been caught allowing such opinions to reach the ears of Ku over at The Panda Express. The owner of each establishment were next door neighbors in a secluded neighborhood almost all but unknown to most resident members of Houston's population with a annual salary under 6 digits per house hold, they took care to establish a healthy rivalry in order to foster as much additional business as was possible to muster by two Chinese Restaurant locations in a town with such a low population over all. Any way I strayed far too much, my experience as an adult in 2021 is that no one on this earth deserves the punishment that is spending painfully over priced amounts of their income only to get your plate half full of mediocre food at best not to mention the poor service, cold atmosphere and absolutely mislabeled everything pertaining to anything. Don't go you will regret it if you survive the hellishness bestowed upon you without additional warning beyond this review. Sorry for the bad news that I just dropped upon your hunger...
Read moreWe love the new owners. They are always checking on everyone. I had a surgery so I can't eat much at one time but they were quick to ask making sure if everything was great. They are so much nicer than the previous owners. The food is great and I love the fact they switched all their chicken over to all white meat as well. We love eating here and apparently a lot of peoe do because when we walked in there were three tables and then all of a sudden they were filling up. I understand with the buffet on taking it out due to Covid and these smaller businesses can't handle the resources to keep up with a buffet. However I love having my food fresh and hot. My hubby ordered the kampoong chicken and Kung Pao chicken he gives great reviews on both staying the Kung Pao may have been a little better but not by much. I go with my favorite Cashew chicken and absolutely love it I order more so I can...
Read moreComparing to Panda House (the other Chinese restaurant in Houston)
Spring Garden has better food I’d say the food at Spring Garden is 5 star and Panda house is three star.
Panda house has larger portions and are better at customizing menu items.
The worst thing about Spring Garden is the crab Rangoons are the worst I’ve ever had. They are just plain cream cheese, that’s all.
Let that not take away from the other food here. The general chicken is better than pretty much anywhere, period. And the same can be said for most of the menu items. Five star flavor, I’d definitely say the general chicken is the best in Missouri. They have some of the best flavorful dishes at any Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been to. Though I wish they would improve their crab Rangoons. A staple of American Chinese food. Just throw in some onions, imitation crab,...
