Unicorn Snow Cones Gourmet Shaved Ice — Restaurant in Houston

I wouldn't recommend them to anyone who is looking to cater with them for an event. Unreliable and unprofessional would be the best way to describe my experience. I booked with them to cater my baby shower for an hour and 50 snow cones. On the day of my event and literally just a few minutes before they were supposed to arrive, the owner called me to tell me she was only going to stay for 30 minutes. Why make other arrangements when I booked in advance and paid in full? She said she was going to partially reimburse me but after following up with her twice, she never responded and never refunded me. We also never received all 50 snow cones although she lied and said she made exactly 50. This lack of courtesy and professionalism is unacceptable. From reading other reviews, I see that this isn’t the first time she’s done this. Such a terrible way to do business. All she cares about is the money and I guess she doesn’t care for customers to return. I would’ve loved to book her again for my future events since her business concept is cute but she certainly won't be getting my business ever again. Awful customer service. I booked this snow cone truck for my daughters birthday and then built a birthday party theme around the snow cone truck. I paid in full 6 weeks prior to the party. A week before the party I noticed a schedule on their social media account that stated the truck would be at a big Houston area event the same time I had booked for my daughters birthday. I was shocked so I messaged the trucks owner and it went downhill from there. She didn’t respond to my private messages for two whole days. It wasn’t until I posted on her Facebook wall that she decided to delete the message on the wall and respond to my private message. Two days before the birthday party she confirmed that she was going to cancel my party and attend the other event. My daughter was devastated. She has still not issued me a refund and since canceling my party has not responded to several of my messages or given me a refund. I will be filing a small claims against her in court. I had Unicorn Snow/Sweets serve cotton candy and popcorn for our wedding. TLDR- Super yummy but they can work on their timeliness for communication.

I want to start by saying, it was a hit! I knew I wanted cotton candy for our cocktail hour and I am glad by guests enjoyed it. I would do it all over again.

My only complaint is communication. Initial booking inquiries went very smooth. All of my questions were answered and it went well! In March 2024, I asked about the flavor options. I got a quick response! I chose my flavors and asked a follow up question. I asked if I should provide my own menu or if their team will provide one. I also asked for a copy of their updated COI for my venue. I followed up on 4/1, 4/30 and 8/12 before I got a response. On 8/14, I got confirmation that they will provide the menu but no confirmation on the COI. I asked to add ons as well but didn't get confirmation until the day before our wedding.

At the end of the day, they provided the services I paid for. I enjoyed the services but the communication...
