Unique African Cuisine — Restaurant in Houston

I really hate to leave this review but people must be aware as well as those cooking and serving the food to know that people are aware of the lack of concern for the public health.

I loved dining here years ago with my husband. Around that time the food was always fresh, well cooked, and the service was great.

Years past and I see the unfortunate decline. I’m not sure if there are new owners but I can’t definitely say there are new cooks which brings me to my complaint.

The food here is already spoiled. They are either selling days old meat that have not been properly reserved. You can smell the spoilage of the food before even consuming it. However, I proceed to eat it poor decision on my end. Now we are food poisoned. Sick for days. Food poison is very easy to identify the smell, the discomfort, the bathroom runs and no sleep. Especially when you haven’t eaten any other thing.

I noticed the women serving are always giggling and hackling and taking their time in the kitchen as if they’re aware of the situation. This is not okay and for you to know what you do to others surely comes back on you.

Please do not eat here and especially do not bring your children here. They will serve you whatever they have not sold previously. They do not take proper food preservation to avoid...

Horrible service, taking too much time to wait. I said I'm picking up the order when I come in, she just said wait without checking me any information for the order. Then keep talking to the customer, after a few mins, they finished talking, the customer left, she began to count the money in the machine, one by one. After a couple of mins, finally she finished, then she directly told me I need to wait 10 mins, and she need to check whether the order is ready or not. She still didn't ask me anything about the information for the order, she doesn't know who am I picking for, what did I order, and what if they have more than one pick up orders? She didn't ask anything and didn't even go to the kitchen to check the progress of the order, just saying wait, wait, wait. Then she started cleaning, I wait 5 more mins then leave, and canceled the order. Also bad environment, a lot of flies can be seen flying, only the fan working, no AC!!! The ambiance was the perfect blend of cozy and upscale, making it ideal for both a special night out or a casual dinner. The food was exceptional. Every dish we ordered was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The vegetable was cooked with goat meat 🐐 soup with Pando yam, which was highlight—perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection. The ingredients tasted incredibly fresh, and the portion sizes were just right. Service was top-notch. Our server was attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely passionate about making our evening enjoyable.
