My grandmother, husband, and I have come to Sakura many times before now and always thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It has become a bit of a birthday tradition. However, we will never return after today.
We arrived at 11:15 and everything seemed to be going well. It took our waitress a bit to come over and take our drink orders, but not a huge deal. It seemed like they only had one member of wait staff working at the time and she seemed new, so a few minutes' wait wasn't an issue. We placed our orders and settled in.
This is when things get bad.
We ordered spring rolls and calamari for appetizers. The calamari arrives in a relatively timely manner and it's decent. A bit overcooked, but still fine. The spring rolls do not arrive for another wait. In fact, my husband and I had nearly finished the calamari. Annoying, but again, not a HUGE problem. However, the appetizers were just the start of the trouble.
My husband got his yakisoba and started picking at it assuming that my grandmother and I's food would be along soon. No such luck. My grandmother gets up to use the restroom and my husband tells me his yakisoba is overcooked and oversalted, but he doesn't want to make a scene as we are there to celebrate our birthdays and don't want to upset my grandmother. She returns and we continue waiting for our food.
A little after 12, we are pretty fed up with the wait. The waitress comes over and asks IF WE NEED ANY TO-GO BOXES OR OUR CHECK. We tell her that my grandmother and I have yet to receive our food. She apologizes and retakes our orders, then goes to put them in. While this is happening, I have been watching a sushi order sit on top of the counter for roughly 15 minutes now. Our waitress leaves and several minutes later, another employee brings me the sushi plate. My husband and I refuse to take it and state that 1.) it's not even my order and 2.) it had been sitting up there for longer than I was comfortable. The worker proceeds to lie and say it just got placed on the counter, although we had both watched it sit there for 15 minutes. She finally leaves and we wait longer.
Over an hour after we had been there, I finally get my sushi delivered to me in a to-go box and bag. My grandmother asks again about her chicken katsu. AGAIN, apparently the order has not been actually placed. It is placed again and I quickly wolf down my food, then we all decide to leave. At this point, we have been here over an hour. My grandmother goes to tell them that we are leaving and to cancel her order, she doesn't want the katsu. Our waitress calls back to the kitchen she "changed her mind" and my grandmother tells the kitchen she's been waiting over an hour. The waitress can't figure out how to take the katsu off the bill, so another staff member has to do so for her. Funny to note that a table that arrived and sat after us is now almost done with their own meals, that were all successfully delivered.
Over an hour's wait for mediocre food, witnessing health code violation, an order that never showed up... No apology, no discount, nothing. Sakura will never see our business again and I urge all of you to go elsewhere. Extremely disappointed to see what was once a great place to eat go so...
Read moreI was in the area craving sushi and decided to stop by Sakura Japanese Sushi & Steak House. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the restaurant’s aesthetic. The decor was inviting, and the goldfish pond at the entrance added a nice touch of charm.
Seating and Menu:
I was seated immediately, which was a great start to my experience. The menu offered a wide variety of hibachi and sushi options, which was pleasing to see. While everything looked tempting, I decided to focus on sushi and ordered the Yummy Roll and the Fantastic Roll.
Food:
Both rolls were exceptional. The rice had the perfect consistency, and the flavors in each roll were well-balanced and delicious. The presentation was also top-notch, showing great attention to detail.
Service:
My server was attentive and friendly throughout my visit, ensuring I had everything I needed. Their attentiveness really elevated the dining experience.
Overall:
I highly recommend Sakura Japanese Sushi & Steak House if you’re in the area. The combination of delicious sushi, excellent service, and inviting atmosphere makes it a must-visit spot. I’ll...
Read moreMy husband and I moved to the area recently and decided to give Sakura a try. I’m very picky about Japanese food and have my favorite places to which I’m always comparing other restaurants. We ordered 2 Hibachi meals, one steak and one shrimp. The portions were huge and we both had leftovers. The food was absolutely delicious from the veggies to the rice all the way down to the sauce. We also ordered two sushi rolls. They had a lot of cooked options for those just venturing into the sushi world. For me, I would like to have seen more options without spicy tuna or spicy mayo in them. Personally, I don’t like the spicy and my options were more limited than I’ve seen at other places. Here are my two, minuscule complaints about the place. The sushi menu was barely readable. The descriptions were so blurry I had to guess what was in most of the rolls. My husband’s menu was the same. The other thing would be that the booth seating is too far from the table. We both had to sit up pretty far in the booth to get to the table to eat. Overall, wonderful experience and delicious food. We will be back! Great...
