Be sure to follow up with their social media to see when they will be open or closed. I made the mistake of visiting during one of their catering days. They do seem to run out of meats by 2 PM (I visited another time when all they had was brisket, but I wanted to return to try all of the meats). So after the 3rd attempt, I finally got to go as soon as they opened. In which they already had a line forming. I ordered the lil hoss to try a bit of everything. Pictured you see sausage, tri-tip, ribs, brisket, potato salad, mac&cheese, & cornbread. I did try all of the meats before adding on the bbq sauce. This is just my preferred way of eating it. The tri-tip was too well done for my liking. The ribs were very mid and did not have much flavor. Both sausages easily crumbled when picked up with a fork. I do like that the sides and bbq sauce are made from scratch. However, the potato salad was quite sour. If you like sour, youād probably like it. The Mac & cheese was pretty good, but texture-wise it seemed almost as if it was leftovers from the previous day. The cornbread (which is also made from scratch) was pretty good, but a bit undercooked and mushy as a previous reviewer has stated. As for the bbq sauce, the flavor is good but it does taste mostly like ketchup. Unlike most bbq sauces that have more of a smoky taste. The only meat that I did enjoy was the brisket. It was very tender as others have stated. Overall, I give this place a solid 6/10. Would I go out of my way to try this place again on purpose ? Probably not, but if I was invited out to eat here I would definitely just get a brisket sandwich. I heard raving reviews about this place and had to try it out for myself. I am a cook, so I do nitpick when going out to eat. I do think this place is good to people around the area (considering thereās nothing nearby), but itās not the best...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was our first time trying the food at this place. We ordered for pickup. And I almost fainted driving from the aroma of the brisket, mixing in the air with the pork ribs inside our suv. We got home and my teenager had a huge smile carrying the box of meat nirvana. The wifey unboxed the food and the aroma hit hard. My stomach growled uncontrollably, my eyes looked up and thanked the good Lord for what we are about to consume. The pulled pork-soft, tender, and a scoop went into my mouth. The pork ribs were so soft and tender that you could eat it with your gums, the brisket was delicately ushered into my mouth and slowly chewed as to enjoy the flavor of the meat and smokiness. The jalapeƱo cheese sausage is the one to order- it was delicious, cheesy with a hit of jalapeƱo-made my head sweat. The Mac and cheese was loaded with cheese-several spoonfuls went into my mouth. The cornbread had corn in it, I ate it and was giggling on how flippin good it tasted. The baked beans had meat, sliced bell peppers, onion and beans-it was so effin good I canāt explain it. Then I put the sauce on the meats to only experience the next level of life. I started getting emotional and thought how come these people are not my friends. I was starting to tear up but I kept my self together. The whole my wife was ranting and raving and almost crying because of how overly good the food was and kept bragging on how she picked Slick Fork as our next spot to try. I dont know if I can go anywhere else to get bbq. Thanks Slick Fork for the love and passion your team...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFound myself around the corner from Slick Fork and gave it a try. Ordered a chicken plate, tri-tip sandwich, pulled pork sandwiches, side of corn bread, coleslaw and mac n cheese. SlickFork did not disappoint! The crew at the window was chill, and the easy going kind of fun professionalism that befits a BBQ joint. Clean tables, modern feel, EXCELLENT FLAVOR. I can't say that enough...... EXCELLENT FLAVOR.
I ordered takeaway and salivated for the 20 minute drive home as the various aromas filled my car. 20 minutes of imagination can really kill a meal if you're taking all the smells in and the reality doesn't live up to the a vivid imagination. But this..... oh.. the meat just melted on the tongue. Perfect flavor blend, just enough sweet, just enough spice and neatly balanced against the raw onion and pickle on the pulled pork. By far the best pulled pork I've had on the west coast. Corn bread was the right size portion, filling without the dryness. The slaw was a nice punch of crisp color and texture to complete my meal. Just that good.
As for the tri-tip, chicken and mac n cheese... all I heard was chewing and intermittent sighs of pleasure between bites. A good sign from an otherwise chatty crew.
In all, definitely 5 stars. The kind of place you make sure to bring out of town family and friends to. I'm pretty sure their menu is available online. Be sure to come and order early in the day before they sell out... this is a meal you don't...
