Probably more in line with 2.5 stars. We had 4 individuals in our party. The consensus was these were adequate meals for an Italian restaurant. The veal piccata was ordered by several and not liked by either individual. One even asked if this was really veal. I believe the veal was probably just not pounded and tenderized prior to serving to the quarter inch thickness usually served. The veal sauce I tasted was over cooked and the veil itself had a heavier batter coating . We did like the zucchini crisps appetizer and antipasto salad. The waiter was friendly but did not seem to understand the different types of pasta when we discussed it. Pasta, store bought. The marinara and alfredo sauces were again just adequate. Tasted as though they came from a jar or can vs made in the kitchen. Don't think there was anything that said, "WOW that was great". The price was okay for the location, but not for the quality of food. Covid restrictions were in place and it was a clean...
Read moreWorst dining experience I've ever had. It rained when we were outside, which is typical for the island. We also had slow service, which is also typical. What made this the such a memorably bad experience was the extremely immature and unprofessional behavior of the owner. When our group of 11 asked for our table and chairs to be wiped dry, it never happened. After 20 minutes of waiting we decided to leave. Before we left, Christina (the owner) came over to inform us that she had yelled at her wait staff and made poor excuses for our experience. Christina never apologized and blamed us for being poor customers. The experience concluded with her telling my 70 y/o mother to never come back. We paid the bill and held up our end of the bargain. It goes without saying that we will not be back, whether or not we were instructed by the owner. What a dumpster fire of an establishment and...
Read moreFood is ok, not bad, but not great. Doesn't taste Italian, tastes like Costco. Service is ok. A woman who appears to be the owner or manager took our order. Passive aggressive, see that quite a bit here. Ordered meatballs. She kept pretending to hear spaghetti with meatballs. Eventually I said ok. When paying she didn't say thankyou for coming, how was your dinner, etc. I would not recommend Cafe De La Plaza, especially for tourists. In my opinion the owner wants the most revenue for lowest cost and doesn't enjoy what she is doing. Just had a negative vibe if you aren't her friend. The other issue is this restaurant stinks to high heaven. It is near the ocean and the ocean stinks terribly from Sargassum. I still blame this on Palmas community as they are not doing enough, if anything to remove...
