I’m not even exaggerating when I say I could write a love letter to that dip. The moment I dipped that first perfectly golden, lightly salted chip into the pool of molten, creamy cheese, it was like the universe went silent for a second. The cheese wasn’t just cheese — it was silky, rich, with this perfect balance of sharpness and smooth melt that hugged every chip like it was meant to be there. It had just the right amount of heat, a little kick that danced on my tongue but never overpowered the flavor. And those chips? Unreal. They were the ideal level of crisp — sturdy enough to scoop up a mountain of cheese without breaking, but still airy and fresh, like they were fried seconds before they hit the table. I swear I could taste the care, the love, the divine intention that went into every bite. Every crunch followed by that gooey, heavenly stretch of cheese felt like I was ascending into another realm. By the end, I was scraping the bottom of the bowl like it was a treasure chest, refusing to leave a single trace behind. Honestly, if happiness had a flavor, it would taste exactly like those chips and...
Read moreI go to many restaurants and this is by far one of the best Mexican restaurants in Humboldt and surrounding areas. The food is delicious! They not only have authentic Mexican food they accommodate your meal if you like it done a slightly different way. Make sure you inform the waitress if you have a special request for example you might prefer a corn tortilla instead of a flour tortilla, etc. Not many restaurants are this flexible. The cook and other kitchen helpers are passionate about their cooking and make their meals fresh. For example, the Huaraches are made when you order them, they are not frozen. So this meal may take a little bit longer to bring to your table but this is the reason because you can be assured that it will be fresh and delicious made when you place the order. The overall place is very clean and the staff are courteous and attentive. If the place is busy, be patient the service and the food are worth it! We will be back and recommend this place to you and...
Read moreThis was the first time I had been to this restaurant. It was small and quiet. The food took a long time to come out for what we ordered. If your use to eating at los Portales or else patio don't expect the same food. It's definitely not the same. The salsa was not salsa did not taste like salsa, tasted and looked like spaghetti sauce which was not good and crazy to me. ( i though they could have gotten the salsa in a jar from Walmart and it would have been better than this) the cheese rice and cheese dip had absolutely no flavor not spices just cheese. The food was edible but just not great ! I would go back if I had to, but will definitely try something different next time I'm in...
