Well Grounded Cafe — Restaurant in Huntertown

Coming to you this morning from Well Grounded coffee in Huntertown today. It's in the strip right by Lima road. They have a deal where you can get any breakfast sandwich with brewed coffee for a bargain price. Perfect for me since I usually get a brewed coffee and a little something to eat when I'm trying a new place. I had the sausage, egg, pepperjack sandwich on a bagel. It was wrapped in foil, so if you have to get it to go, it should still be warm when you get wherever you are going.

The attached menu shows that they do offer some salads and other lunch choices. The bleu apple pecan salad sounds like a winner. I'll have to come get one soon.

They have 2 full storefronts here. The main side has the kitchen and a really cozy seating area by the door. The other side usually has a kids corner, which is all packed up right now (COVID). They hold painting classes over here a couple times a week. They also offer the open side up for people to rent for private parties, so if you have a graduation or birthday party, it might be the space for you.

They are happy to have you call in your order and they will bring it right to your car if you prefer that type of service. Natalie (manager) told me about some of the ways they offer extra stuff here besides just the coffee. I can tell she really cares deeply about he business and wants it to grow.

Cute little place but horrible customer service. I’ve been here twice and both times, the employees were not friendly at all and made me feel like an inconvenience. They did not smile or say thank you. The first time I came here, I ordered mostly pastries and coffee. The coffee tasted good but the pastries were very dry. The second time, I placed a large order because I wanted to support local and try lunch items there, and the cashier just stared at me like I was crazy for ordering several items (3 sandwiches, a salad, 3 quesadillas, 2 brownies). The staff were loudly saying things like “after ordering a certain amount of items you should be forced into gratuity” after I didn’t leave gratuity on my credit card and was going to go out to my car to search for cash to leave as a tip, as I saw a jar sitting right there and am often told that cash tips are better. The menu online is not updated and several items have jumped up to $2 each which adds up. I’m very disappointed by both trips. Finding the perfect daily coffee spot is tough, but when you do find it, it becomes an extension of your home and it's bliss.

Natalie gets my order started and knows if I'm having a good day before I even walk all the way through the door. I'm a vegan and I eye their masterpieces of sweet treats every day and they all notice. I wanted a grammie, so badly. I tried to find the recipe on my own and when I couldn't, they told me it was a secret family recipe that used buttermilk and I died a little inside. Today, Kara and Alana surprised me with my very own vegan lemon grammies and I'm telling you, they need to be packaged and sold in every grocery store in the world. They made vegan buttermilk to substitute, and all. I'm in heaven.
