I really don't understand all the great reviews. We tried to like this place. From the start it did not go well. Some tips, no alcohol so bring your own, it's cash only, don't get bolognese if you are expecting bolognese (tomato/meat sauce).
Wait was 30 min to get a table when there was a table for 4 open the entire time we were there. Don't mind waiting at all (it's actually a good sign that you're in the right place for good food) but not when the staff does not know why they cannot seat us. We asked what was going on, we got "um I'm not sure. I don't know". Finally sat down and waiter came to take our order, never cracked a smile. My friend ordered a simple pepperoni pizza but asked for no oregano or basil for the toppings garnish. (Just the garnish) Said he had a reaction to "too much" of these spices and avoided them when possible. Waiter understood. Our other friend ordered pasta carbonara. We had a total of two pizzas, a salad and pasta coming.
Pasta and salad arrived, but no pizza and no waiter to check on us the entire time. Pasta carbonara was cold when it should've been piping hot if prepared properly because of the eggs. Finally we flagged someone down, she checked on our pizza...30 min after the paste arrived, the pizzas came. And guess what, our friends had oregano and basil on it. Before she could leave we told her the mistake and she got the owner/partner who unapologetically told our friend that almost all of their ingredients included oregano and basil even asked our friend "did you eat the bread because that has both on it". He said yes he had a but but that he simply didn't want it on "top" of the pizza. By now we've been sitting for an hr and do not have our table of 4 served properly. Still our original waiter has not come by once to check on us. The best thing about this place was the female waitresses. They were all nice. We pay and get our left over pizza boxed. They handed us our boxed pizzas. We get home, open the boxes to put the pizza away and end up calling each other laughing because they handed us each other's pizza. we also noticed one person making all the pizzas while the other cooks in the back were waiting around. Honestly if it wasn't for the waiters lack of friendliness and the owners lack of hospitality, (which is not Italian), we might give it another chance but definitely not going back. Lots of other great Italian places with much more heart than this place... and no offense but have you ever been to an Italian restaurant without a simple bolognese sauce!!! I looked up bolognese to see if I'm missing anything and sure thing...it's a freaking tomato/meat sauce. Can't get it here. I...
Read moreWow!!! I don’t know where to begin. Wife and I ordered a Pizza. Delicious would be an understatement. Especially with the Italian chilly sauce they had on the table. I pasted it on 2 slices. They may have to refill the jar.
My son ordered the Spaghetti. He is a very picky kid who only loves Grandmas spaghetti. She’s Portuguese so he’s confused lol but he literally licked the plate and said wow this is the first pasta that’s up there with Grandmas. Coming from a 10 yr old grandmas boy. That’s a big deal. Seriously.
Me I had two slices of pizza trying to refrain from eating 2 more, which will be second dinner tonight can’t wait. Oh and we took more sauce on the side. I waited patiently for my rib eye which I was going to skip and watch my figure. But decided I’d rather stuff my face.
Steak arrives. I’m blown away. Presentation, flavor, and the tatters with the steak sauce. I might run out of space on this review. My son and my wife literally both grabbed some. Who don’t like ribeye and ever more so don’t like RARE!!! They helped me devour it.
I’m writing this review with so much behind it because my son is here for baseball. We don’t get too many trips where it’s just the 3 of us. My other two were at grandmas in NorCal.
This was special because Carter was pretty much saying this was a core memory and even took photos of us. Your food and restaurant really left a forever lasting impact and if we’re ever coming back to HB it’s for this place!!! I can’t wait to...
Read moreI really don’t like leaving bad reviews but I was truly disappointed in this place. I was hoping it would be our new HB go to! But we won’t be back.
We started with some delicious bread and our beverages. The bread was amazing. We put some of their homemade spicy sauce on top and BAM it was top notch. This gave us high hopes.
My boys both got carbonara with no peas. They asked if they could add a protein, like chicken and got a quick “nope”. The chefs don’t like to adjust recipes. Ok, but it’s just adding chicken. It was extremely salty and inedible. My son was so hungry he ended up eating half of it before he tapped out.
I ordered the bolognese pappardelle. I expected a red sauce but when this came it it looked like gravy. And there were tons of peas in it. I expected a red meat sauce…. I should have read the reviews prior to picking this place. The negative reviews expressed the exact same concerns with the carbonara and bolognese.
It took a really long time to get our food. Maybe 35 minutes after ordering. Tables that came in after us were getting food before us.
Pasta is a little on the pricy side. $25 for bolognese and carbonara. Our go to place is under $20 with excellent food and service.
The waiter was very apologetic and took both the carbonara pastas off the bill. Not our intention but appreciated.
Cash only place but they have an atm. Great atmosphere. I just wish it worked out.
