Cafe Cup — Restaurant in Huntington Beach

My husband loved Cafe Cup. And I wholeheartedly agree. Friendly and very attentive staff. Cannot say more about how enjoyable it is to have great wait staff who actually enjoy their jobs, work together and care about what they are doing.

The food was always fresh and well prepared. Never a complaint or issue.

Fresh cut fruit. Great portions. Local eggs. And vegan meat options. Usually not a big fan of home style potatoes but these were great. I wound up ordering a side of refried beans and they were really good (we came back several times during our week in OC and I ordered the beans every time).

Regular and fruit syrup for your pancakes, with specialty flavors posted on the wall... pumpkin pancakes anyone? And three kinds of fresh salsa plus Tapatio and Cholula on the table... I mean cummon y'all, that's doing it right.

And the coffee. And the Italian Espresso and Cappuccino machine. Perfect.

Sad to say I was always so fast to dig in I don't have great pix. The burrito is their mini burro with eggs, potatoes, choice of meat with a side of usually potatoes but I chose the beans. So great and very reasonable price. They definitely have huge regular portions if you're so inclined. My husband enjoyed the steel cut oatmeal, the pancakes, and a few other options on our many morning trips. But forgot to remind me it's cash only.

I have been here twice and I will NEVER go back again. My first experience was unfriendly service, their food liked flavor and it was expensive, especially for a breakfast place. There was always a line so I figured maybe I just went on an off day. On my second visit I walked in with my baby and ask for a cup of coffee. They refused to serve me coffee until my entire party had arrived. I showed them that there was nobody waiting inside or outside and that they had two open tables. They very reluctantly served me and made me wait 10 minutes for my coffee. My mother arrived within 5 minute and they rushed us to order our food. We ordered and the waitress walked into the kitchen and placed our order. Just then my brother decided to surprise us and joined us for breakfast. Our order was given two minutes earlier  and when they saw him walking they immediately came to our table . They said he couldn't ordered because we had already ordered and he was not welcome. I was shocked that a restaurant is not welcoming another paying customer. I have never had a restaurant turn away a guest. The staff was rude and unwelcoming. We will never go back there again!

If you are looking for delicious breakfast foods and you haven't been here (and you're local!) look no further. There is limited seating and it is always crowded. They only take cash but they have an ATM in the back for you.

My recommendation: Show up, after you've dropped the kids at school or send someone on a breakfast run the morning after a late night of merriment. Peruse the menu on the wall. Choose something. I'm partial to spice so I love anything they'll put chorizo on. The tacos are deceptively delicious. Order it to go and stand outside- there's no seating left inside because they are packed! You won't be the only one standing outside. But don't worry! They are super fast and charming. Don't forget to tip. Bring that drool inducing bag with you back home. It will have cooled down mostly to not burn your tongue because it is FRESH and HOT. Sit in the comfort of your home where you can really splay out and consume that deliciousness.
