Dos Amigos has real potential, love the casual atmosphere, oversized open windows and central bar. The small outside patio is fairly separate from the bar and cuts the continuity of the space that is intended for its patrons. Though in the day, a nice little escape from the loud music and day lounge atmosphere of the inside bar space. The 8 or 9 large TV’s kept our jersey wearing football fans engaged as the place erupted in cheers from pockets of fans for the 3 different games they were showing. They absolutely are finding their footing, staffing is still an issue as it took several attempts to flag down one of the 3 gals running from table to table in an obviously chaotic manner. The food was good, though has no real spice as would be expected from a cantina. It’s hard to be of Latin decent and walk into a restaurant hoping for an authentic style and remember you are still in the minority. Admittedly, I was excited for the prospect of a good Latin style restaurant within bicycle distance. The carne asada & chicken was well prepared for my tostada salad and ground beef midnight taco delightfully crunchy. The “strips” are intended for the locals who grew up gathering their pennies for that familiar pile of shredded cheese on tortilla chips while covered in sand. The drinks are good, and offer a nice little selection. Overall, this place will find its groove and I have no doubt it will be a fan favorite. The parking lot continues to fill and I foresee good things for this new...
Read moreSo yes I'm a fan of this place, the owners I don't know anything about a personal level but I know they own another restaurant here in town that I'm a big fan of and I like what they've done with this property. I have lived here most of my life and this corner has always been a real eyesore to the city. Completely remodeled this building and it is a really really fun atmosphere, I like what they've done with the menu especially how they have played tribute to the local beach concessions, I love their attempt at the famous Huntington Beach strips and cheese. I wish the sauce was a little better, I wish it was like Dwights and like Jacks but again I love the tribute to the local Huntington Beach tradition that many of us locals grew up on.
The food is really good, the drinks are really good and the service is really good. I don't like it when they have live music playing, it's super super loud and if you wanna have any type of conversation with your friends and family forget it, it's just not gonna happen. I sometimes wonder if the band should be in the corner where the arcade games are.
All in all I think this place is great and I highly recommend if you have not stopped in and paid this place to visit that you do so because it is the best thing to happen to the Brookhurst and Hamilton/Atlanta area in...
Read moreFirst timers, visiting for the Bengals/Titans AFC Division game.
Atmosphere: Nice interior, plenty of parking, plenty of TVs, able to seat ourselves.
Food: Chips, guac, and salsa were great. Chips were fresh, warm, super crunchy and not to oily. Guac had plenty of flavor. Red salsa was medium spicy and enjoyable. Birria Dip Flautas were our favorite part. Slightly different from traditional flautas as they were flour tortillas instead of corn, but really good. The meat was juicy and tender, and the consome tasted rich and authentic. Carne Asada Taco was pretty good, more of a thicker cut steak then the typical carne asada. However, not worth $6 each in my opinion. The green taco salsa was also really good, very flavorful and not too spicy.
Drinks: Spicy margarita. Good overall, the spiciness was not over powering, enjoyed the smaller sized ice, tajin on one side of the glass was also a plus.
Service: One of the bartender served us regardless of the other servers standing around. She was super nice and the entire order was correct. 2 inconveniences: we were never offered utensils or napkins, and the bartender got busy so we had to go to the bar to ask for our tab and...
