Tabu Shabu — Restaurant in Huntington Beach

I was obsessed with Tabu Shabu when i discovered it in Carlsbad, went back 3x on that mini getaway. There’s something about the freshness of eating shabu shabu (hot pot) that is so satisfying.

Then Tabu Shabu takes it an extra step, they transform your leftovers into an Asian Risotto... creamy, delicious, and mouth-wateringly good.

Service was great at this Huntington Harbour location in an outdoor mall by Trader Joe’s. They play upbeat music, keep the space sanitized and comfortable, they seat parties in pods, constant attention given with extra condiments, serving utensils, monitoring your broth, super hot sauce drops in your dipping sauce upon request, etc.

We got the grass fed prime beef regular size and tonkotsu broth or spicy miso / tonkotsu mix.

Bountiful set of fresh veggies that you can choose to customise, my daughter only got broccoli, spinach and tofu.

My teenage nephew inhaled his first round of beef, so we got him another set of beef..

It’s a lot of food, so i always have a lot of leftovers. They take your leftover broth, add rice, add more broth over and over until it thickens. Then add an egg and chilli garlic sauce and other yummy stuff, and sesame seeds.. omg.. it’s so good that i dream about eating...

It was my first time here, and all I can say that it’s amazing! The food and the customer service were, hands down, the best! We had the pleasure of Brian assisting us today, and he did such a great job. Rather than feeling like a stranger, Brian made us feel like we were at home with all his suggestions and aid! What a waste of time, over priced and little food. Everyone sits at a bar, couldn't hear each other. It is not the place to sit and enjoy "everyone's" company.You cook your own food in a broth. $25-30 for 4 -6 oz of meat, a little bit of veggies and a scoop of rice. Yuppie heaven.
