Hong Kong Bowl — Restaurant in Huntington Park

I have been a faithful customer of Hong Kong bowl for the past 5 years or so and I intend on keeping it that way, I recommend everyone to stop by and give it a try, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Call to place an order ahead of time for convinient take out just make sure to mention pick up time because they like to maintain your food fresh and hot so they serve it like 10mins before you arrive. Say you don't call just walk in; well then you might be faced by a long line, intimidating I know, the exception here is they work fast and diligently therefore it's not even an issue. Generous portions and delicious food! Did someone say ¿!¿!¿DOUBLE WHAMMY?!?!? The only cons might be the location, its in a beat up neighborhood, and parking is like a game of Chess. All the pros override those potential-stress-makers. I used to live about 3mins away and I visited often(quick tip: try the wonton soup when hungover) and now that I live far away I still put in the effort and make a trip with my whole family even if it's for take out. Recalling my second to last time I went, I had placed an order over the phone and I said I would be there at 7:30pm, long story short I was running late it was already 7:50pm and there was a towing truck blocking the road, I called to ask if I could still pick up because they close at 8pm, the lady was ok with it she was understanding and respectful, you know being a mom on a mission that day I had a truck full of dirty laundry to wash, running out of gas, screaming Baby and a pre-narcissist all attitude 10yr old daughter, I thought I was going to absolutely loose my shishnitz lol so I really appreciated that from...

Honestly, the food was kinda mid. The only reason why I’m giving this 3 stars is because the chow mein was pretty good and the chicken skewer was fantastic. Other than that, it was kinda garbage and extremely overpriced. They also skimp out a little on the portions. The spot that I usually go to, they never skimp out on portions, they make sure to fill it and they struggle to close the box. The food tastes so much better over there too AND ITS CHEAPER!! I paid $20 for the 2 entree combo, some mid wontons and a chicken skewer. The only reason why I would ever go back is because of the skewer to be honest. I judge a Chinese takeout spot on two things. Whether they have good orange chicken and good beef and broccoli. The orange chicken wasn’t very good, it was also soggy. The beef and broccoli had a weird taste to it and the beef tastes like a really bad cut. I know Chinese places don’t use good cuts for their beef in beef and broccoli, but maybe some more baking soda would help the beef not have that dryness that it had. Worst Chinese fast food Ive ever had. I ordered a plate and 4 wings which ended up costing almost $18 which is already insane, I had chow mein with mushroom chicken, orange chicken, and 4 wings. The chow mein was oily and flavorless, orange chicken was basically all mush and no chicken, and the mushroom chicken was wet and bland.
