In the heart of downtown Huntington, Indiana, where historic charm meets modern comfort, Coffee Bean Counter has solidified its place as a must-visit gem for coffee enthusiasts. Opened in early September 2025 at 10 West Franklin Street, this cozy spotâhoused in a building with a nod to the town's banking past, complete with an old vault door for Instagram-worthy selfiesâdelivers not just a cup of joe, but a genuine community experience. From its grand opening buzz to its commitment to "Brewing Coffee & Building Community," owner Chris Parker's vision shines through in every detail, making it a beloved favorite for locals and visitors alike. What sets Coffee Bean Counter apart, especially when stacked against the ubiquitous Starbucks, is its unwavering focus on authenticity. While Starbucks often delivers consistent but overly processed brewsâthink syrup-heavy lattes that mask the bean's true characterâCoffee Bean Counter elevates the everyday coffee drink to something more natural and invigorating. Their roasts highlight the inherent notes of the beans, with flavors like subtle citrus or nutty undertones taking center stage, then amplified by thoughtful additions like house-made infusions or fresh herbs for that extra boost of vibrancy. A simple pour-over here feels worlds away from a corporate drip; it's robust, earthy, and alive, without the artificial aftertaste that can linger at bigger chains. For those craving a flavored twist, their seasonal specials deliver genuine fruit-forward zingâfar more nuanced than Starbucks' predictable pumps of vanilla or caramel. Beyond the cup, the atmosphere at Coffee Bean Counter is a masterclass in versatility, outshining Starbucks' often sterile, high-traffic vibe. This isn't a place for rushed grab-and-gos; it's designed for connection. Spacious communal tables and nooks with plush seating invite lingering chats with friends over steaming mugs, while quieter corners with natural light and historic accents provide the perfect backdrop for productive business meetings. Open weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., it's buzzing yet never overwhelming, fostering that small-town warmth that's increasingly hard to find in franchise-dominated spots. Add in their hearty soups and wraps to round out lunch options, and you've got a destination that caters to both casual hangs and professional powwows. In a world of cookie-cutter coffee chains, Coffee Bean Counter stands tall as the antidoteâoffering superior, natural-tasting drinks with flavor that punches above its weight, wrapped in an atmosphere that feels like home. Say hello to your new coffee destination, Huntington: this is where the beans...
Read moreMy son Liam and I love to check out new coffee shops and came in Coffee Bean Counter and immediately my son noticed the bank vault and of course had to check it out! It was so unique to see the old vault. Then we ordered our Carmel Apple Chia (one hot one cold) after the amazing suggestion from the talented barista Corrin! She also suggested and very yummy cranberry orange muffin, served it perfectly warm, and we got Liam a hummus salami wrap. She served us where we sat at the bar overlooking the court house and watching people go by. It was awesome. The chia was so delicious either way too! (Hot or cold) the muffin was devoured and wraps had a lot of meat to them! Prices were very competitive and atmosphere was excellent! Barista Corrin (sorry if spelling wrong) was the on point and friendly! We...

The staff helping us were delightful, and very patient as we tried to figure out our options (allergies). They were very accommodating to our specific needs, while offering transparency about their limitations regarding cross-contamination.
I enjoyed a Brown sugar chai with almond milk and a shot of espresso, and it was incredible. Even with the shot of espresso, there was no bitterness to my drink at all.
Don't forget to check out their little shop. They also have rooms available for very small parties or meetings. A great experience overall, and definitely worth every...
