If I could give a zero I would!!! I would say I've seen the rise and decline of this restaurant since its conception! This was my favorite restaurant our little secret back in the day when it was El Mariachi located where The Boot is now. I actually use to DJ Karaoke here back in the day after it became El Herradura So I know Hugo pretty well. I've recently moved back to the south side of town and have been excited to go back and enjoy one of my favorite spots! Boy have I been disappointed everyone can have a bad night so I gave it a second chance tonight and it was just not good at all! I will never be back and that actually bothers me because I loved this restaurant before. I keep hearing the new place by Home Depot is pretty great so we will give that a shot next time we are craving Mexican food. What we were charged tonight I wish we had just went for steaks. so my specific problems tonight. Food wasn't good! We ordered Jumbo Margaritas we were brought monsters. When I spoke to my server about it he lied and told me that Monsters and Jumbos were the same thing??? I asked when that changed and he said its a large and then monster and Jumbo were the same instead of aknowledging his mistake!! I guess anything to jack up the ticket right?!! My son did not eat anything on his plate he had chicken nachos we thought we ordered from the appetizer menu ended up being the most expensive plate on the table. He ate a few chips off the plate all that was left was a big plate of chicken. When I spoke to the server and owner about my son not eating his food because it was s bad the response was well that's what he ordered. I said yeah but he didn't eat it aren't you gonna do something about that? I got a no sorry man!! What the actual Hell? I know y'all have been in this business for a long time when a customer can't eat your food because its so bad you comp the plate! I only wish I had taken a picture of the pile of chicken on my sons plate when you took it away! Thats it we are done and we will never be back you probably should have offered at least a small amount of customer service you must be pretty hard up for money to treat a long time customer that way!! no more chances my man and I'll make sure everyone knows...
Read moreThe food here is decent. The drinks are pretty good and not too expensive. The reason I give only three stars is because their customer service is awful! If you don’t order all the drinks you want when the server is taking your very first drink order, then forget about getting one! Ordering dessert is impossible. They brought us our check before we could even ask about desserts! On a different occasion we came here for take-out half an hour until closing time, and they refused to take any over the phone take-out orders(claiming the kitchen closed half an hour before closing!), but (we were in the parking lot, just wanted to go home at this point) we watched them seat a couple that walking in. The laziness and rudeness of the staff here is just so surprising. The last time we visited this place for take-out, we were informed that the “vegetarian” entrees are served with the same refried beans that contain lard that they serve on every plater. I have an allergy to these products and the man we were speaking to openly admitted they done this with full knowledge of the inclusion of pork in the beans. There isn’t any way lard can be considered vegetarian as it is a pork product. This place should be shut down for intentionally violating not only moral but dietary needs. Read moreI was actually in the mood for sushi, but the place I choose is closed on Tuesday, go figure. I visited this place many years ago, but don't think I reviewed it (that was a lunchtime visit for their buffet). The ambiance here is typical for this type of eatery. I was seated quickly and my beverage order taken. The waiter forgot to bring chips and salsa, but an observant employee spotted it and took care of the me. The chips were crisp and fresh, the salsa very pedestrian, but there was hot sauce (three different kinds) on the table to fix it. One of my tests for any Mexican/Texmex restaurant is beef or shrimp chimichanga, I ordered the beef, and it was served with refried beans and rice. The chimi was NOT stuffed with ground beef - it was shredded beef, which was a pleasant surprise. It was quite delicious, and plenty of food for most appetites, the refried beans were a little thin but had plenty of flavor, as did the rice. The waiter was just pleasant enough to not earn a star off. The restroom was typical and VERY clean. I can see this as a regular stop when...
