I had been searching for a local pastry shoppe and found this place. So, I gave them a call. The man who answered the phone was quite standoff-ish when I inquired about their business and if they had particular types of pastries. The man then hung up on me and wouldnât answer the phone when I called back. (Strike 1)
Of course I figured Iâd drive down there and inquire in person. I asked the man whose voice I recognized immediately if they were having phone issues. He looked me in the eye and said they didnât have a phone which I knew was a lie because I saw it sitting on the counter. (Strike 2) Maybe his whole attitude was because I have a Pennsylvania phone number.
Today I went at 200P to get a few more doughnuts because I was willing to let the attitude and rude treatment slide. That was until I tried the door which clearly says their hours are til 230P and it was locked. (Strike 3)
That said, the doughnuts are good. And the blueberry ones are really good. But professionalism to me is also a huge component of successful business ownership. Integrity is important. Donât ever look a man in the eye and lie to him. If heâs worth anything that will be a bigger insult than just about anything else. Be open when you say youâre going to be open. And despite the uptick in spam calls, recognize that in a free country you can get customers from any area code.
This is not meant to be a complaint, simply a statement of facts. If the owners take constructive criticism well they...
Read moreI visited for the first time today, and it appears that I'm throwing a wrench into the standard five star review. To begin, fruit flies were inside the top tier where the cream filled donuts were kept. I ordered fritters from the bottom tier, and donut holes from the other side. The donuts and fritters were bland, flavorless, stale, cold, oily, heavy and dry. The outside was wet with oil but the inside was so dry it was difficult to chew. I do not understand how this establishment has garnered so many five star reviews, unless it's just pity points or polite people trying to support a locally owned, small business which is run by a female. I'm all for supporting such businesses, but I cannot in good faith lie in a review which then wastes people's time and money. The lady is very friendly, but her bakery is filthy, it's actually a health hazard in my opinion, and her donuts and fritters taste like $#@&. You could fry bread at home and have something that...
Read more5:00 PM - in the mood to take home a couple donuts for the wife and kid. Store was not trashed, but trashy. I know it's just a donut shop - but hey... if the front looks this crappy, what's the back look like? The donut employee (probably family of owner or owner) took a minute to get up and leave her boyfriend (hanging out or working, couldn't tell) to ask me what I wanted. There wasn't much left - so I took some holes and a couple mixed glazed and cinnamon sugar coated.
They weren't 1/10th as good as they are at another location at 6:45am when I get them. The Jordan Lane store, in the morning is off the hook good. This store may have the same taste that early but I don't think I'll ever go back at 5pm or after breakfast hours since they make donuts in the AM and let em sit all day.
5pm-6pm (closing) should be half...
