I ordered a chicken solo to go after 9pm on Saturday night. Walked in and ordered it minus the soup because I was walking back to my 18-wheeler at Sam's Club nearby.
Vegetables were soft, moist, and still plenty warm by the time I opened them. The taste was as you'd expect and not spicy. The chicken had a nice hibachi cooked texture and was properly cooked and roughly thumb-sized chunks. The vegetable fried rice was served as you see in the photos - as if it were ice cream from a scoop. Nice presentation, even in togo form! The yumyum sauce was just that, and it comes with one small cup, so if you like it, order a second one. The ginger salad was crispy, and the dressing came in a small cup to measure out as much as I wanted (all of it)! It had that familiar little zing to it. Only 2 pieces of chicken seemed undercooked and chewy, so that's not a deal-breaker for me.
All in all, I'm thrilled to have stopped in at Rock N Roll Sushi tonight. It's a ten minute walk from Sam's Club. If I get to Huntsville again, I will be happy to become a repeat customer.
Run DMC, No Doubt and Oasis videos played while I was there. The men's room was clean and stocked with soap and paper towels, etc.
Staff was happy and friendly even in the last hour of their shift. I have a shellfish allergy, which I didn't mention to them when ordering, and I still had no adverse effects, so apparently, they are on top of their game where cross-contamination is concerned! Thanks so much for a great experience. Thanks to you folks, there is one less hungry trucker in the USA tonight!
Update* I am now a repeat customer. Sunday, I got an order of chicken fried rice to go, and it was delicious. 1 scoop of rice with chicken chunks on the side, with 1 yumyum...
Read moreThere's only 4 tables, 6 booths, and a bar. The "atmosphere" is a dark room with cool lights and large TVs all playing the same music video. It's all hard surfaces, so it's noisy. This is not a place for conversing.
The food was okay, but nearly everything else wasn't. Maybe there's a management issue??
It has only been item a few weeks, but it's dirty. There was a sticky spot where I waited for my food by the bar. The floor is dangerously slippery by the tables because it's so greasy.
Only the bartender has any hustle. People are sitting at their tables waiting for a server. People are stacking up by the hostess stand. People are piling up by the bar for carry out. The bartender is having to take to go orders at the bar, take orders at tables, ring out customers at the bar, ring out customers at tables, and keep the kitchen putting out the right food at the right time.
And there's an employee just standing by the kitchen window. There's an employee ambling around putting food into bags for carry out, but when they bring it up to the bar for pickup, they don't announce the name or ask any of us which order we're waiting for.
We walked in to order, and the bartender told us it'd be 15 mins to get our food. 45 minutes later, she's having to go tell the kitchen to put out all the dishes for one order together. I guess that's why the dine in folks were getting 1 dish at a time while the rest of the table just waited!
Dirty, bad service, food is only ok. We...
Read moreThis is a usual go-to for my sushi fix and I generally like the food. It's not the most expensive and it's not bad. All things considered I like it,...but, last time we went it was in the evening and it just seemed weird that ALL the inside lights were on as if it were closing. It wasn't just to be clear but all the lights were on making atmosphere that of "Hurry up eat and leave." Any way I can get over that. But what stuck out this time was that it's a place for loud music and that type of atmosphere.. I mean they have monitors all over the room with music videos playing and its a concert type theme going on. Well, video came on that my said, I haven't seen in years.. It was then that I noticed with all the lights on that the music was extremely low.. like the baby crying across the room was the loudest noise in there. I kindly asked if they could increase the volume so we could enjoy the music. The waitress said flatly.. No. She didn't know how and wouldn't if she could due to the fact she "might have to speak louder to hear me" if she did turn the volume up. It just stuck with me that they just don't care about aesthetics or atmosphere or what the customers want. so, ya know.. it's whatever. but keep that in mind on your next visit to Rock 'n Roll for boomers quiet...
