Have looked in the Hurricane area for a quality Mexican restaurant. Saw a coupon in local book for La Fonda. Researched their reviews that were primarily positive. Went to the restaurant as suspicious if located with a gas station. Found it in the same building as the station convenience store, but clearly separate. Spoke to people about to enter who were very glowing about the restaurant. On 6/26/24 we went for lunch. Full menu available. Had beef/chicken fajitas for 2. Withheld peppers as requested. Found the fajitas to be very good. Had a side bowl of shredded cheese and their salsa to add to the meat. Onions well cooked and flour tortillas were tasty. Rice was a hint of spice that was very good. Service was efficient and cordial. Bottled beers available. One thing surprised me. As I left noticed the table behind me left a cash payment for the check. Didn't think anything of it. After paying with a credit card noted a 3% surcharge...not much 0.99. Yet if could have used debit may have avoided that charge. All in all...
Read moreThe restaurant is attached to the Texaco station east of the intersection of SR9 and I-15. Plenty of parking. Service was excellent. Complimentary chips and salsa with a meal. The chips appeared to be made on-site and two types of salsa were served, one mild, one hot. The salsa was "ok". I ordered the ground beef taco and chile relleno. The taco was the best I've had in SW Utah. The shell was made on-site and the beef had a mild flavor. The chile relleno also was excellent without being overwhelmed by cheddar cheese which seems to be favored by other Mexican restaurants. Refried beans and flavorful rice came with the meal. My wife had the chimichanga and said it was very good, again not drowning in cheddar cheese. This will be our new go-to Mexican...
Read moreWhat an amazing meal! Stopped at La Fonda on a trip from Salt Lake City back to Las Vegas and left incredibly happy. We were greeted immediately by the sweetest woman who brought us to a table and our server was extremely kind and helpful with menu suggestions. The kitchen is open concept so we were able to watch the two Chefs in the back making our food. They did an incredible job the Al Pastor burrito was a hit. I would definitely come back for that! My partner got the fajitas which came out hot and sizzling and tasted delicious!
Living in San Diego and traveling to Mexico as much as we do I tend to become critical of Mexican Cuisine, but this place blew me...
