Mario's Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Hutto

Mario's is one of my family's favorite places to go eat. I've ordered many things on the menu and all things have been delicious. My favorite is just the plain cheese enchiladas. Love their rice. Reminds me of my grandma's rice! The menudo is amazing as well. Full portions at a great price. All food comes out hot and fresh. No, the tortillas are not homemade, however they do use good quality cooked ones. Not only is the food amazing, but the customer service is even better. My daughter looks forward to seeing Mario. He is truly the most amazing restaurant owner. All staff are very helpful, check on you constantly, and are always happy to help (even when your 4 year old spills her drink everywhere)! They always have a table available for us, and Mario always stops to talk to us. New to the area and woke up craving tacos. Definitely disappointed to say the least. Tacos are tiny. Chorizo, egg, and bean was decent but not the best we’ve had, and the taco was mostly bean. HIGHLY disappointed with the “salsa”, it was a salsa to eat with chips, not tacos. Tortillas were just disgusting, chewy and had the taste of fake tortillas. H‑E‑B bakery tortillas taste better than the ones we had from here. Idk if they got lazy and bought some instead of making them because they definitely didn’t look like the ones in pictures. The worst of it all was definitely the barbacoa, probably the most disappointing barbacoa we’ve ever had. It was flavorless, mushy, and FULL of fat. Disgusting.

Love little family restaurants! They normally have the best food! The food here did not disappoint! I ordered the Migas plate with soft tortillas. The tortillas seemed homemade too. The potatoes were really good! I didn’t need to season them out use any condiments on them. Beans were good and didn’t need extra seasoning. The sauces are great, the green one brings some heat. The negatives of this place was the service. The waiter was all over the place. She did not act like she wanted to be at work. It wasn’t just us that noticed it. Another table did to.
