It probably comes as no surprise that McDonald's isn't the healthiest choice, but sometimes it just seems like the right choice. Maybe you had no time to cook dinner and you run your kids through the drive-thru, maybe the screaming toddlers you're babysitting want some ice cream, maybe you've been craving one of those beautiful-looking burgers or maybe you're on the go and just need something quick to eat. It's totally understandable that you chose McDonald's for your meal. McDonald's is getting healthier right? It has a cafe now, too! It's probably not that bad of a company, right (I mean, who gives out kids' toys for free!)? WRONG! McDonald's is all a facade, working you like putty in their hands. They'll do whatever they have to do in order to make you believe their lies. Here is what is really going on behind the scenes: McDonald's may act like their nuggets are fresh but here's what's really in them: water, sodium phosphates, food starch, salt, flavoring, wheat starch, dextrose, citric acid, yeast extract, rosemary extract and safflower oil. Let's not forget how the meat was made too! See McCruelty below to learn more. McDonald's chicken suppliers kills the birds with cruel and inhumane methods. PETA has tried many times to work with McDonald's to create more humane methods in the factories and food industries, but McDonald's has continued to refuse. What does it say about a company if they're willing to kill living creatures with painful methods? In McDonald's slaughterhouses, chickens are dumped out of their crates and hung upside down in shackles. They can suffer broken bones and hemorrhages. The birds also suffer abuse. Sometimes birds have their throats cut while they are still ALIVE. The chickens are also dipped in burning hot water. Please stop supporting McCruelty. These happy little boxes may seem like a good thing, but don't let them deceive you. McDonald's gives children toys starting at a young age so that they're hooked early and continue their consumerism through life. Have you ever visited a McDonald's where the workers seem particularly happy to be there? McDonald's pays its workers minimum wage. Workers all over the country have held protests for the mistreatment that McDonald's allows. You may have never wondered this, but how many cows does it take to keep the endless burgers coming? Research says that about 500,000 pounds of beef is processed per DAY, per PLANT! That means about 2,609 cows are made into burgers a day in the U.S. McDonald's uses an excessive amount of preservatives to make their food last for long periods of time. This is not healthy, and you never know when your food was actually made. Gross, right? WHAT? The fast food industry impacts our environment? That's crazy! It's the sad truth, though. A lot of the soy-based animal feed that is consumed by chickens to fatten them up is grown in the Amazon. Huge areas of forest and land are cleared for this. This process that McDonald's uses supports unsustainable agriculture and could ruin the natural food cycle. You may think that fries are vegetarian right? Wrong again. Although these fries contain no fresh meat, they are made with an oil that is flavored with meat extract. They are also made with milk and wheat. Although preservatives were already mentioned, it's important to reiterate that McDonald's is not fresh. Look at the difference between the burger on Day 1 and Day 180. Next time you're eating there, remember that your burger might be days old. If you're feeling strongly about McDonald's and want to make a change, here's what you can do:
Stop eating McDonald's
Write to McDonald's
Organize a demonstration
Share leaflets and information with family and friends!
Be an...
Read moreI ordered breakfast on the app because my blood sugar was dropping and I needed to eat quickly. I live 3 hours away, so going home to make breakfast wasn't an option. First, the app quoted one price, but when I arrived, I was charged almost $5 more. When I arrived, I was told "We don't have Frappe's, Black Coffee ok?" I said "No, it isn't. I don't like Black Coffee, which is why I didn't order it. Also, there's quite a difference in price. But, can you tell me why I was charged more than the app said I would be?" I tried showing her the app. She spoke limited English, and said "That's an app order. I don't know. But, you cancel order and then I make food." I asked about the refund. She repeated what she said. I tried explaining that this overcharge left me unable to "just place another order" and that I was having a blood sugar issue. She brought another employee to the window. I explained the same thing to him. He relayed it to her. Then told me that I wouldn't actually be charged, but I had to cancel my order on the app. Then, upon placing another order, they could get me breakfast. No, a gift card refund for immediate rectification was not possible. But, just cancel the order. I canceled the order. Was not able to get food. My blood sugar dropped to 67. And, I got charged the full, wrong, amount (completed/hard posted to my account). I have tried contacting the restaurant. I was told it was not their problem, it was a problem with the app. I called their 800 number. I was told I would get a call back within 48 hours. After 48 hours, I called back. They looked up my complaint. Their notes stated that I was complaining over them being out of Frappe's! NO! I want my refund!!! I want to understand why they couldn't explain to me why I was getting overcharged! I want to know why they thought a Black Coffee was an appropriate substitute for a Frappe. I want to know why they weren't willing to look at the blood sugar monitor to see I needed food, and their error was making it worse! But, still nobody will contact me back. Their corporate office stated that the management for this store is backlogged for complaint calls. Looking at their reviews, I believe it. It appears that this location cares little, if at all, about...
Read moreJust went through the drive through tonight around 10:30pm and no lights were on outside, which was weird for a drive through supposedly open until midnight, you could barely see. There was a line but didn’t mind waiting on a Friday night, it was expected. Ordered my food and paid with the attendant, he was very polite. Got to the order window and the lady handed me a bag with the obvious wrong drink. I informed her nicely that I had the wrong drink and she handed me the two drinks I ordered instead, but she acted as if she didn’t know which order belonged to who. So after getting the drinks I pulled over and decided to check my order before I drive off. Luckily I did. There was a missing a regular McChicken sandwich. No big deal, it happens, I’ve worked in the food industry, so I pull around to find that the drive through line is being closed with cones by the first attendant who took my money. I politely ask and inform that I’m missing an item and he tells me he has two, one regular and one deluxe McChicken and he will give them both due to the mess up. Great, I didn’t need the extra one but he said to take it. So I get home, and actually take everything out to find that the two large fries were barely halfway full if that, and they were cold and soggy. The two McChickens that were given to me as a mistake, were both not what I ordered, one was a spicy McChicken and one was the Deluxe. The spicy was edible but the Deluxe McChicken had the lower bun so hard that you would’ve broken a tooth if you bit into it, so it was inedible. Luckily I’m a dentist and could’ve fixed the issue, but that’s a different story. Also, one of the drinks was completely wrong as well! I’m sadly disappointed and will not be returning to this location anytime soon unless I’m desperate! It’s close to home but not worth going back. I do applaud the attendant for trying to make it right, but gave me something inedible! Don’t fix a mistake with another worse mistake! I’d give him two stars for the effort as it wasn’t his fault the food was bad. I would give the experience half a star if I could. Money...
