I don’t even know where to start if I can give them 0 stars b/c 1 star isn’t deserving enough. PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! If I could have posted the audio and video I would definitely had done so for proof but since I’m unable do that. Last night, I placed my order online and as I proceeded to head to the restaurant to pick up my online order, my GPS said I will make it there at 8:40 PM, which is 10 minutes after they closed. I gave them a call and got a Nathan Thomas on the line to inform them I was on my way, but I was going to be late and I wanted to know what shall I do to be sure that I get my food. He puts me on hold and then gets back on the line and tells me well. Your food is already done. I don’t know what else to tell you because we are not able to give you a refund mind you I just wanted to get my food and let them know that I was late. The refund was the last resort But since he mentioned the Refund that started a whole new conversation because now you’re telling me my food is ready. You don’t know what to tell me if I don’t make it there before y’all before you close so I’m not gonna be able to have no food to feed my two children and I’m not gonna get a refund or my food. Mind you the whole time I’m speaking to him. He said he’s stating that the manager is outside on the phone with the owner when I asked him to put the manager on the phone she refused to get on the phone. Long story short after being hung up on three times I finally make it to the restaurant in the nick of time when I get there I asked to speak to the manager who comes in her name is Julie. Julie approaches me obviously she doesn’t know. I’m the customer that was on the phone. She comes up to me and I let her know that I was the customer on the phone. I didn’t appreciate how I was treated. When all I was trying to do was informed them that I was going to be late and I just want to get my food. The refund was the last option. I was not trying to get my refund. I don’t know what Nathan told you and that’s why I wanted to speak to you directly. Julie looks at me dead in my eyes and tells me she did get on the phone, but I didn’t say anything soon as she finish her statement. I let her know that I was recording the phone call as well as recording this conversation that I was having with her in the restaurant soon as I told her that she rudely walked away, got on her phone. I’m assuming she called the owner because I did make her aware that I will be calling in the morning. Apparently, when I spoke to a Valerie this morning who informed me that they have a manager group chat. So basically, when I spoke to Valerie, she had already chose her side, even though I told her I had audio and video to back up what I was saying was true. She was not interested in that, her words were, what do you want me to do?!! If anything apologize for the rudeness and the first time experience I had with you guys. Not to mention, they made my burger wrong I order well done as you can see from the photos, I got a medium cooked burger. I ordered their BBQ burger meal and it had a drop of barbecue sauce. Again, as you can see from the photos, that’s not what I got.I WILL NEVER GO BACK HERE AGAIN!!!!!! HORRIBLE SERVICE AND...

It’s with regret and hesitation that I feel it’s necessary to give you a constructive critique of your eatery. I’ve traveled several thousands of miles in my lifetime from Panama to Alaska several times. I’ve had the privilege of having many different meals and cuisines between those points. In fairness to your restaurant, my wife and I do several road trips around the state of Texas mostly. Unfortunately, this critique is not shining.
The hostess was pleasant, upbeat and very energetic. Our waitress was extremely pleasant and hospitable, and even your busboy was extremely energetic and helpful. They were friendly, accommodating, professional and efficient.
The critique comes from the quality of your food. Of the thousands of places that I’ve eaten at through my years, I must say, with regret, your restaurant is definitely the worst we’ve ever eaten in.
Our menu consisted of fried catfish, fried oysters, French fries, 2 sides of fried okra,Texas toast and mac & cheese. Of these, all the deep fried items were permeated with the stale, burnt, overcooked cooking oil from your fryer that made all our food putrid. The old, rancid and burnt cooking oil should have been changed a week earlier and the fryer vat should have been thoroughly cleaned.the stench was in all our food which I can’t believe your restaurant would serve your customers with such deplorable and stinking aroma. In addition, the okra was overcooked to the point of being charred and even totally burnt, making it impossible for the fork to penetrate the okra without causing the okra to fly off the plate. The mac & cheese that my wife had was bland and barely warm and the cheese that was used had very little flavor. The Texas toast was dry, hard and unflavorful. It was not buttered nor was butter offered to help soften it. The only thing that rated merit to a degree was the quality of your pie which I still found disappointing because it appeared that you made them in a small 8” pie pan which gives your customers the smallest piece of pie that your restaurant could serve for the highest price.
Our impression was sealed as we were exiting your restaurant when a waitress, who did not serve us, seemed to have made a “smart-mouth” comment about the pre-mixed medicine that I brought to help with my digestion. Her comment was “I see you brought your moonshine”. We feel this was totally unwanted, unnecessary and degrading. Please educate your staff on being more sensitive with older seniors that need to take medicine with their meal.
All that said, in the places I’ve eaten in, over the hundreds of thousands of miles, there is no way, no how that we will travel or eat at your restaurant again. I brought my wife to your restaurant on a day trip for our anniversary. I would never serve such stinking and putrid food to my family or guests. That day, for our anniversary meal was totally...
Read moreIn a word - wonderful! The first time we went I had the chicken fried chicken with black eyed peas and roasted brussel sprouts. The chicken was huge. I ended up making 2 meals out of it. The black eyed peas were flavorful with just the right amount of bacon cooked in with them. The brussel sprouts had a delicious flavor, but were tough and hard for me to eat. That's more on my teeth issues than anything wrong with the brussel sprouts, but wanted to mention it for anyone who may have similar issues or false teeth. There is a whole menu devoted to desserts - pies and cobblers. Yum. I didn't sample any dessert that day because I knew we were headed back to work. The other guys did have dessert and they all looked amazing, with everyone confirming that they tasted as good as they looked. We went back for lunch the next day. The chicken fried steak was as good as the chicken. The mashed potatoes were good. I especially liked the rice / black eyed pea combo. It was spicy and flavorful with a good amount of heat. Still no dessert for me. Why you ask?- because we made plans to stop by after work just to get some pie for later. Woohoo!! I got a slice of peach cobbler, which the waitress said was her favorite and highly recommend. I stopped by the store on the way back to our room for a pint of ice cream. I could have added when I ordered but I didn't want it to melt before I got to it. I also bought a slice of the chocolate toffee pie. I'll start by saying that I'm generally not a fan of pies. Cobblers, yes, but not pies. Anyone who knows me knows this to be true. ( I don't know why it is, but I've always been this way. ) Having said all this, the pie was AMAZING!!! I enjoyed every bite, and was scraping the container to make sure I didn't miss any last little bits. I should've bought the whole pie. It went perfectly with a good cup of coffee. The peach cobbler was as good as promised, and I truly enjoyed it as well. I can see now why this place made the Texas bucket list in addition to all of the other awards and recommendations. It should be on your bucket list too! Who would go to the little town of Hutto Texas just for a chance to eat at a down home Cafe?- After having been there, I can safely say, I would. We'll definitely be back for more desserts and lunch on our next trip down for work. If you're anywhere close, don't miss the chance to check this place out - even if you don't like pies. You might be as...
