Dear Management: I had an unpleasant experience visiting the L&G Restaurant on 01-07-24. We arrived about 1:45 this Sunday. The plan was to meet three other friends with my wife and I for BRUNCH (as a birthday celebration for ME - today). We arrived and were immediately greeted at the door with a denial of service. The check-out staff explained that the restaurant was CLOSED for all Meal service. We were informed that we could have ordered for Carry-out / pickup until 3pm. Unfortunately, an earlier call to confirm the restaurant hours had gone unanswered so we just traveled and agreed to meet at L&G. The parking lot was half-full, but there were only 5 - 6 other diners seated at the time.
After asking to speak to a manager about the rebuff, the staff further defended their position and informed us that the Manager was not on premise. I asked if the manager was available by phone and was told an attempt would be made to contact him/her. Not observing this attempt being made I was simply told later there was no answer on the call. Even Ms. Laneshia(?) who reiterated the store policy (in a second attempt to calm the situation from the beginning) ultimately admitted she had no managerial authority either as her co-workers stood by helplessly. I apologize if I was too demanding or hard on her but I have come to expect better accommodations in the food service industry. (My wife is L'CB culinary trained, if that matters any. I just know good food when I smell it!).
Anyhow, while waiting for the remaining friends (10 mins.) so we would not get separated, I observed no less than 5 orders of food being prepared for carry-out service. But the attention to detail of the delivery people being waited on was in stark contrast to how the in-house patrons were treated as they left. IF the L&G Restaurant lis now primarily an "On-Demand/Courier/Internet" food business - That's fine. Then your signage and online advertising should simply state that. It is a bit disingenuous for your parking lot sign and Google ads to say Breakfast/ Lunch/ Dinner when you intend to close at 2:00pm on any given day.
I had recently been referred to L&G from friends who live in the area. I too was a resident of the SE side for many years as well. Two other dining experiences there were more enjoyable but in hindsight they were close to "closing" as well. Table and chairs were moved around and floor mopping took place as we finished our meals.
While your explanation may help to explain these anomalies, I am not confident honest business procedures are being followed by your staff. I would also suspect that sanitary food processing would be suspect as well. I intended to visit your establishment again - unannounced - as I believe in the "three strike rule" too. I believe L&G could do better and hope to revise this review...
Read moreI just left this place and dined in Christmas Eve morning. Let me just say the staff here is the worst, I walked in, wasn’t greeted I stopped in my tracks and black girl and an older Mexican lady with deep red lipstick are conversing and they don’t break their conversation to say anything so I continue walking and made my way to a booth and have a seat. When I began to walk away I hear one of the ladies say sure sit wherever you like. I sit at a both then a younger guy with dreads approaches me and said we’re closed bro. How?? No one up front said anything and no one stopped me from sitting down. I don’t resist I should have kept it moving but he comes back and says I’ll take your order it’s cool. Ok great i put my order in, get my food, eat and while eating I run out of water, waiter didn’t come back for a while but when he did he brought back a whole pitcher, refilled my glass and left it on the table. When I tell you I was repulsed but the pitcher he brought over, I almost Ralphed my entire meal. There is mold on the exit point of the pitcher. Obviously it’s been like that for a while. This would for sure get this place closed down for health code violations. If this is what they do with the water they serve. Imagine what they do with the dishes you eat of off and the food they serve or the hands that prep them. Lastly I go to the counter to try and to pay my bill, there is a guy standing there running his mouth to the cashier, she stares at me while sitting down and keeps going with her conversation with this guy. I turn around to the young Mexican dudes performing a gang handshake, then I have to find my waiter so I can have him cash me out. This place is ridiculously out of hand, no one is professional and no gives a hoot. Spend your money where they aren’t just smiling for tips but they actually care about...
Read moreReview: L&G L&G is a breakfast gem in an area where high-quality morning options are few and far between, with fast food being the main alternative. This welcoming spot shines as the best choice for a proper breakfast, boasting a menu that’s both varied and impressive. The food is the star of the show. L&G’s menu offers classics like fluffy pancakes, well-crafted omelets, and hearty breakfast burritos, alongside inventive dishes like zesty avocado toast or indulgent stuffed French toast. Portions are ample, and the ingredients feel fresh, a welcome departure from the typical greasy fare nearby. Whether you lean sweet or savory, the diverse menu has you covered, delivering quality that’s consistently above average. Service at L&G is slightly above average—dependable but not without minor hiccups. The staff is warm and attentive, greeting you with smiles and keeping coffee topped off. During peak hours, service can slow slightly, with a bit of a wait for food. Still, the servers are proactive and responsive, ensuring a generally pleasant experience. The vibe is cozy and cheerful, with bright décor and comfy seating that invites you to linger. Prices are fair for the quality, especially considering the lack of comparable breakfast spots in the area. In a region dominated by fast food, L&G stands out as a beacon for breakfast lovers. It’s not flawless, but it’s easily the top pick for a satisfying morning meal around here. For a great start to your day, L&G is the place to...
