I'm editing my review from my experience in July. We have been going to Steve's for years and usually the food is spot on. This last time just was not the case. First the good... the all-you-can-eat fish is great lightly breaded and an excellent taste. And of course the cottage cheese coleslaw or beets is always spot on. Now the things that were not so good... one person in our party had the chicken dinner which was dry and flavorless just not what you expect from Steve's. Needless to say she was very disappointed. Myself and my wife had the shrimp. The jumbo shrimp are usually spot on with a great taste/perfect flavor. One thing I noticed was that these shrimp were smaller than usual no problem as long as they taste great but not so. If I was going to Purple Steer I could expect to get something like this for about 10 bucks however I expect more out of Steve's and something has changed. I don't know if this is a one-time thing or they change their supplier but they were terrible very dry and tough to chew. Also the potato pancakes. What happened? They were soaked in Grease not crisp and very soggy. Again after having so many great experiences this is a disappointment. All in all I'm hoping this was just a bad day for the cook. If this was not my first time at Steve's it wouldn't have even gotten three stars. But I know you can do better because I've seen it for years. Even if you have to bump the price a couple of bucks go back to what you were doing before because price is one thing but...
Read moreOur first time here and well worth it. The service, the customers , the food, plus they even had free trivia which you can win prizes. We tried the blue gill, stuffed shrimp, dem bones BBQ ribs as well as veggie tacos. You start off with a bread basket(ask for the garlic bread as well as the regular bread ) both are so good. You also get cottage cheese, Cole slaw as well as beets. The portions were large and filling. For potato selection you have your choice of fries, baked or potato pancakes. The potato pancakes came with sour cream. Our server was a guy, can not remember his name, was on it. He was running around like crazy but did not get flustered or upset with questions . always a bonus. Our first time will not be our last that's for sure. Check it out on Friday's you won't be...
Read moreHad brunch there on May 8th with relatives I hadn't seen in years and some I had never met. Steve's is a very No Frills, down to earth Lounge. They practice social distancing, have an old- style genuine bar very responsive staff, especially Rachel. But what about the food? They have a varied menu, including different types of seafood, beef, pasta; we dined on great mostaccioli, Fried Chicken without the 11 herbs and spices and very tasty, and some of the best beef I've tasted since I worked downtown and ate at a little restaurant in the Sherman House 50 years ago. Need I say some of us took a sample of everything home? Absolutely a place to visit...
