Update: I feel likeTe'Amo really listened to this problem and that their service has since massively improved! Every time I go now, there is a very friendly lady who prepares my drink order (correctly) and accommodates my requests for no ice. I have seen her training new staff as well. I changed my star rating but leave my old comment below for reference. Thank you Te'Amo!
Hello, I really like going to Te'amo but wanted to alert the owners that one of the recent hires (of the Te'amo in Hyde Park) needs to be fired. I have legimately never experienced worse customer service; she has a 0% rate of getting my drink orders right, and every drink I've ordered from her I've asked her to remake. She always briefly argues with me about what I've ordered, then admits that she made an error and remakes the drink. The remake also has a 0% rate of correctness. ---I'm not exaggerating, she has literally never gotten my drink order right. The mistakes are not small, either; for instance, the first time she made a drink for me, I asked for a rose tea with boba and a mustache. She prepared for me a matcha latte with a mustache and no boba. In talking over my drink order with her multiple times, I have learned that she actually does not know the difference between matcha and plain green tea, and she seems to think that all mustached teas need to have matcha. I thought this might not be her fault, and that she might not have been properly trained, but the final straw was when I saw her interact with other customers. She and a friend of hers were drinking teas at one of the tables, talking and hanging out away from the counter. A customer came in, ordered, and sat down to work while he waited for his drink. He waited for twenty or so minutes, got up to look at the counter for his drink, and then sat back down. All this time, the woman who was supposed to be working the counter was hanging out with her friend. Finally, about ten minutes later, he got up, approached her, and had to let her know that he had ordered a drink. He was just sitting there for half an hour, with no other customers waiting ahead of him, while the woman was talking with her friend.
I am not sure how to describe this woman other than that I think she worked on the afternoon of Thursday the 18th of January, and that an Asian lady came in to work after her. I have gone to Te'amo Hyde Park very frequently, but I decided I had to stop because I couldn't pay $8 for the wrong drink, especially since when this lady prepares a drink it can be undrinkable (somehow the tea is too concentrated). I really think removing her and perhaps giving better training to the new hires would massively improve people's experiences. I hope to have a better boba experience...
Read moreI usually favor this spot as far as bubble milk tea is concerned, but the utter lack of good customer service is concerning. I recently ordered online, due to the pandemic, waited for the order to finish, and headed on over to the spot. Upon arriving, I see two women without masks standing one inch from the entrance.
Now, before continuing, I must preface by saying that they have a stand where food sits out for pickup about a foot and a half inside of the store. I waited patiently behind these women, not wearing masks, as the single woman working inside of the store personally handed them their drinks without complaining. I too did not wear a mask because I was waiting outside in fresh flowing air and these women set the standard.
I get up to the front and the woman starts yelling at me about wearing a mask even though I'm outside. Now I wasn't trying to be rude, I just forgot it. She continued to yell that the virus was serious and she wouldn't service me without a mask. I tried to tell her that I forgot it and was just trying to pick up. She refused to listen as she kept yelling at me.
She then came to the front and told me that she would call the police on me if I didn't leave and put a mask on. She then proceeded to close the door on me and all the other customers. Afterwards, I had to call the store from the outside to explain to her the situation, where she said she would bring a table outside just for me, and place the food on it when ready.
After waiting another five minutes the food came outside. Nevermind the fact that she personally handed off two drinks to two women without masks. Nevermind the door is open and air was free flowing reducing chances of infection to essentially zero. Nevermind she spent 95% of her time at the back of the store preparing food (you guys are understaffed).
My point is, there is a certain way to respectfully handle "difficult" situations besides yelling and threatening police action. Food gets an A+. Customer service gets a -25. Train your employees better and plan ahead. You can't tell someone to order online and then refuse service after hypocritically serving two older women in their...
Read moreSuper disappointed. Our first time visiting we were very excited. I checked the website out first to make sure they would be open and that they had what we wanted. As we walk towards the entrance we noticed the signs that said call in or order online ONLY. So we walked in and proceeded to order as I was having much difficulty signing up on the website the staff seem to be ignorant and ill-mannered on my distress. No greeting no offer of assistance for my obvious difficulties and no customer service at all not even a glance. So we finally figured out how to order with not one whisper of assistance but yet not enough to get the 10% off first purchase since there was no one to help us process our first order on our very first visit. As we returned in 12 minutes to pick up the order was but very much not made as we ordered. Absolutely no sweetener and ended up tasting horrible as we were already near home it was too late to turn around for a refund but this was an extremely disappointing experience and we will not be returning. As we live near to this Boba drink location we will definitely be going out of our way to make sure we get great customer service as well as a drink make deliciously the way we wanted it in Chinatown. As far as Asian-related foods I have always been satisfied with every experience up to this point.
11/21/21. Update I would like to update this review a as the next day I received messages from Tea’mo with their humblest apologies issued a refund and gift card for future use and also the menu suggestions I was looking for. Although it was not the best first experience at that time they explained they were just very busy and extremely short staffed due to Covid. I appreciate when businesses show true concern and compensate for it. Ill try them out again hopefully get a better experience and a drink more tunes...
