Ware Ranch Steak House — Restaurant in Hyde Park Township

BEWARE OF THIS PLACE. NEW OWNERS, NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY, LOW QUALITY, SERVICE AND FOOD. If I could give them zero stars I would certainly do so. A couple of months ago on Father's day, we went to the restaurant for breakfast. There were seven of us, we all ordered breakfast at the same time. Half of us received the food in about 30 minutes and it took over an hour to get the food for the rest of us. They ran out if grits and would not make anymore, they ran out of pancakes and it took them forever to make more. By the time the other half of us received our food, the first half was finished eating and we were all at the same table. The owner acted like she didnt know what was going on but was sitting at a booth right across from us. Why did she received her pancakes and bacon before the other half of us received ours? We were paying customers. When we finally said that we wanted to speak with her due to the unacceptable service, she came over as though unaware of the situation. We express our concerned, told her that we felt that we should get some money taken off of the bill, we expressed that we came there to eat as a family but was not able, through no fault of our own. The owner was appalled, and said she will give us six dollars off the bill, that came close to $100. This establishment has a new owner, very different from the long time previous owner, we have been going to this restaurant for over 50 years, but not anymore. She will not be open long, I give it 6...

I tried more than once to get a better result before giving my rating and review. Both times failed with service. Started with coffee and no silverware so while waiting to add the creamer and sweetener my coffee was getting cold. I wasn't poured a full cup, only what was left in the coffee pot then the woman didn't come back with more. After placing our order we waited and watched 2 other tables seated then received their food Our order was a simple waffle with fruit and omelet so it wasn't anything that would take longer. Although I think the older woman is a sweetheart and very nice I gave grace for her. Chicago has many restaurants and I was really hoping this one would deliver decent service and food. I am disappointed. The food is good but the service takes away from it all. We ended up taking the food to go and leaving since we had more on our agenda for the day

Update Jan 2024: Gave them 1 more try and got great service from Patricia. She absolutely made sure we had what we needed with a smile. Attentive service is very important and I am glad I gave this hidden jewel another chance to make things better. The food always taste really savory and delicious. It did...

Breakfast with a friend. First of all, I'm glad the community has a nice RE-OPENED establishment. I grew up in this community and this place was one of the Pillars back in the day.

NOW on to the review...my friend was afraid because of the "activity" that was going on the block. One young man saw us arriving...in separate vehicles...she thought that he was going to try to rob us...at the front door. He went back and forth with holding the door open for us and then blocking our access. He did this twice. It was raining that morning. I said "Excuse me young man. You know it's raining right? I'm getting wet."

He said "Ma'am I'm sorry. I was trying to figure out how to use the door." Yeah right I was thinking 🤔 just move your ss out of the way. But I said, "I get it. Thank you for trying to be a gentleman. What's your name? Thank you *@%&. We appreciate it."

The service was super slow...but the food...
