White Castle — Restaurant in Hyde Park Township

As anyone from Chicago or the East Coast will yell you, "There's nothing like a White Castle Burger". Only other locations seen were/are on Hollywood Blvd. (L.A.) and Long Beach, CA which are owned by my old buddy and named "WEST CASTLE" in his effort to comply with the legal terms of White Castles corporate management years ago.

This location is at the corner of 2 busy high-traffic streets 95th St. (east/west) and Jeffery Blvd. (north/south) on Chicago's Far Southeast near some of Chicagos oldest communities with primarily employed African-American residents.

As one of my FB friends from Chicago also stated: "We know we're back home when we see this familiar, older White Castle structure!" Gives us both a flood of past memories spent their with old friends back in the day after school and weekends, lol.

Long a neighborhood secret, Management at this locale has ALWAYS hired GREAT COOKS that TRULY know HOW to grill up a DELICIOUS, cooked through but NEVER burnt & ALWAYS juicy 'White Castle Burger' with perfectly grilled onions and tasty melted GREAT QUALITY cheddar cheese! Yum, yum! Wish I had one right now! Add their sumptious fries and your favorite shake and reminiscence your old school days as you delight in 7th Heaven.

Interior:

Rehabbed & Modernized a few years back is more appealing than yesteryears light blue bench-style seating and white tables. Current color scheme using a much darker blue and more orange is what I always thought it should have been in the past!

Prices: Now this is where it hurts! YET, still as always, THE LOWEST PRICES of all other fast food establishments and more quantity despite their small size! A hamburger is no longer $0.25 (original cost back in early 1900's) or less than $0.50 for a burger, sandwich or fries. But that's 'progress' for you, lol.

Went in on yesterday morning around 5:45 am,only because none of the Burger Kings were open. I was charged $32 for a incorrect order. My order was $7 and some change. The $32 was voided . But the young lady at the window told me my order would be for free since they messed up. Okay cool. I get to the 2nd window the same young woman asked to see my card again so she can pretend she was getting a payment and told me my order would still be free. When I got the bag only my cheesey tots were there. I ordered 3 sliders with cheese no pickles and cheesey tots. I get the bag I let a different young lady that was at the window know she told me they only told her cheesy tots. I gave her back the bag . I called in to the restaurant and spoke to the manager( I think), I explained what happened and ask what was going on cause it just didn't seem right. She assured me I would get my refund for the $32 it would just take awhile okay fine . I got the refund maybe 10 minutes later. I just looked on my card and the $7.17 charge was there all of a sudden which is fine but unfortunately when I got my burgers they had EXTRA PICKLES when I said no pickles. 2 freaking years later it's still the same! SLOW AS HELL!!! OMG I BEEN WAITING FOR MY UBER EATS ORDER FOR A HOUR WHEN IM LITERALLY UP THE STREET. SO MANY PEOPLE HAD TO CANCEL THE ORDER BECAUSE THEYRE SLOW!!! ITS RIDICULOUS THEY NEED BETTER MANAGEMENT BECAUSE IT MAKES NO SENSE TO BE WAITING THIS LONG FOR FOOD. AND THIS ISNT THE FIRST TIME, LAST WEEK WHEN I WENT IN WITH MY SISTER, HAD TO WAIT 30 MINS FOR 8 SLIDERS. NOT TO MENTION I HAVE TO ASK FOR MY BURGERS WITH NO ONIONS BECAUSE THEY DROWN IT WITH SO MUCH ONIONS THAT THE JUICE MAKES THE BREAD SUPER SOGGY. SO THE WHOLE SANDWICH IS MUSHY. AFTER THIS I NEVER WANT TO COME BACK TO THIS LOCATION UNTIL THEY GET BETTER PEOPLE IN HERE.
