Delsa's was a big part of my childhood. I remember coming here in the summer after swimming all day at Fairmont pool. My go to order as a kid was a basket of fries and a scotch and soda. Nothing hit harder than hot fries with fry sauce after swimming under the sun all afternoon. Some of my happiest memories are here.
My in laws came in over the weekend and was telling us how they enjoyed their food there. After hearing about the fries, meatloaf sandwich, alfredo and chicken strips, I needed to come here for dinner tonight.
Walking in, it brought back a surge of memories. Hope greeted us with her beautiful smile. Hope told us to go and pick out a table and that she'd be right with us. We grabbed a cute little table in the corner. I was admiring all the pretty fresh flowers on the tables. Flowers just make your table that much more inviting. Hope dropped off menus, told us the soup of the day and special of the day. After looking over the menu, we decided to share the finger steaks. It also came wit a side salad and fries.
My side salad was good! I appreciate that they peeled the cucumbers. It also came with fresh romaine, cherry tomatoes and croutons. The salad was the perfect size. The fingers steaks came out shortly after. The fries and finger steaks were fresh out the fryer hot! The fries were so fried perfectly, not too crispy and not too floppy. The finger steaks were crunchy and savory on the outside and the steak was tender in the middle. It was such a simple meal and it was all tasty. My scotch and soda was fizzy and sweet, just like how it remembered it back when I was 12.
As full as I was, I decided to grab a scoop of ice cream. It had ribbons of fudge and peanut butter cups in it. It was super sweet and rich. I today forgot what it was called. I did ask for a kids portion. It probably wasn't a kids portion. It was a pretty big scoop. But as full as I was, I managed to eat a few bites of it. So good!
I can only say positive things about Delsa's. They are locally owned. Hope, who is the owner's daughter did a fantastic job taking care of us tonight. This place holds a tender part of my memories and my heart. If you're looking for a fun dinner and a sweet treat, Delsa's has to be your go to joint! It was great to spend Monday night with these...
Read moreI mean this with all the kindness in my heart- but our dining experience at Delsa's was one of the worst I've ever had; in Boise or elsewhere. We ordered a burger and a grilled cheese as well as a strawberry lemonade and soda. I added 1 star for the delicious French fries and another star for the great service. Our server was exceptionally kind and helpful. However, the rest of the meal was quite frankly- disgusting. The burger was beyond rare. The center of the burger was so raw I gagged. It was bright pink- and this is coming from someone who regular eats raw steaks. We couldn't finish more than 3 bites. The grilled cheese was not cooked through or grilled whatsoever. It looked like it had been slathered with butter and microwaved. The outside texture was similar to mashed bananas. The American cheese was barely melted and cold in the middle.
To make matters worse- our bill was over $45 with tip. It was pricier than Fanci Freeze, Big Bun, etc. And the experience did not live up to the hefty price tag.
As we were leaving, another woman exited the bathroom and said it was the dirtiest bathroom she's ever seen. I took a glance inside and decided to risk a potty accident on the car ride home after seeing it soiled on the floor and toilet seat.
It seems that this place must have once been stellar and I hope it was an off day. However, we will not be visiting...
Read moreI have been a long time customer at Delsa's, through different managements and watched the business evolve. Took my mom and sister in tonight, excited to go enjoy their amazing milkshakes and dinner. The restaurant has some really nice improvements and looks great! But we were BEYOND disappointed with the customer service, where I would rate their service at a zero. We asked staff if we should sit down to order food and they said yes. So we sat down and were waiting for a few minutes. Then our waiter walked with three waters and menus three steps out of the kitchen frowning, looked at my mom and shook his head, turned around with his items still in hand back into the kitchen. I heard him yell, "I am not doing this!" By that point, my family said, "Let's leave," and then the waiter came back out saying, "Aw, I was just kidding." Don't "joke" like that with your customers before you say hello, and don't go throw your temper tamtrum in the kitchen where your customers can still hear you. We were glad we left before we ordered and went to dinner somewhere else to enjoy our family time together. Delsa's, if you're going to invest so much money to make the business look better, I would suggest to invest as much in improving your customer service. Very...
