PLEASE DON'T SHARE THIS REVIEW! If you are reading this review, please keep it to yourself. This review is only for anyone interested in the best Fish Sandwich I have ever had - in my life. This is not an exaggeration. I often celebrate wins in life - big or small - with a quick trip to MCDonalds and the self care of a Filet of Fish with fries. I'm a fish sandwich guy. If this sounds disgusting to you - read no further. I have driven past Lindy's Steak House 1000 times. If not for a business meeting with a friend - I would not have gone there - it's just not my vibe. Please forgive my use of the word "vibe". My kids say it. The vibe inside is fine - packed of older folks. You get the feeling a bingo game could break out at any minute. My friend ordered first. Fish sandwich. Fries or salad? Salad just because we are in our 40's. I ordered the same. The plates arrive. The sandwich is open-faced with a large golden breaded filet of white cod - all the condiments on the side. Pickle, red onion, tomato and white tartar sauce. A nice soft hamburger style bun. I build my sandwich and take a bite. WOW. Fresh, crispy, savory seasoning.I devour it. I kept saying to my friend - "This is so good!" And it really was. Really really good. Whoever is doing the cooking at Lindy's knows what they are doing. I will be back.    Read moreVery disappointing. Met our friends here for dinner before going to a community orchestra concert.
First, the Good: the restaurant was clean and neatly organized. The fixtures were not beat up, the upholstery was in good condition and the room did not appear to need painting or other maintenance. The table settings were clean and wrapped inside large cloth napkins. The server was prompt, and friendly, and we were all set for a pleasant dinner out.
Now, the Bad: No way around it...the food was bad. Not one, but four different entrees, and they were all poorly prepared. I ordered the oysters and they were easily the worst I have ever been served. The steak was tough and the finger steak was way beyond crisp. The "vegetables" were cold, water soaked, and should never have left the kitchen.
I've eaten out a lot in my business career (47 years) and retirement (15 years) and I can't recall a meal that left such a bad impression. And, to add insult to injury, it was expensive. Not a good combination.
Maybe this was just a bad night for the cook. But based on our experience last night I am rating the Service as 4+, and the Food as maybe a 1.
With so many good restaurants in Boise I see no need to go back...
Read moreThis is a place my wife and I always drive by and say " we need to try this place." The restaurant portion was closed due to not having enough staff available. Par for the course these days. I don't hold that against the owner. The bar portion ia open and all the stuff on the regular menu can be had in the bar.
There were at least 8-10 full tables when we arrived and it didn't take long to notice that it was being managed by 1 server. This I also don't hold against the server or the owner. Where the 3 stars come in was in the quality of the food for the price. I had the Fettuccini Alfredo and my wife had a sirloin. Both entrees were lacking in flavor. I'm not one to salt anything from a restaurant, but I found myself salting the alfredo, which in my opinion should have enough parmesan cheese in it to satisfy the savory. I ate a few pieces of my wife's sirloin only to realize the cut had probably been in the freezer prior to being grilled.
For being a bar where you can order ait down food, the ambiance was fine. I initially thought I'd be eating my food surrounded by drunks, but this was not the case. I doubt I'll eat...
