I have enjoyed many fantastic meals from Westside Drive In over the past several years & have never been disappointed with my meal or the service, until tonight. I pulled up in the drive through at about 7:15, there were 7 people ahead of me & 2 behind me. I ordered two shakes ( no food) ' & when I got to the window to pay I made the comment "you guys are busy tonight!" Not meant as a complaint in the slightest, as it was said with a smile & a laugh. What I got in response from the cashier was what seemed very rude & unnecessary. "Yeah, around this time every night we get busy & then people want shakes..holding up the line. I don't mind, I'll do it, I just feel bad for the people who, ya know, need to order." She then handed me my change & called me sweetheart. Her tone was somewhat neutral, just very passive aggressive. I was disappointed with this customer service. I chose to wait in the long drive thru line to get my quick order of a couple of shakes, I could have gone in to order but chose not to, my choice, along with everyone else's choice who chose to wait in their car for their order. It's clear that you're going to wait when the line is long. Shakes are quick to make..I spent less time getting my shake, making small talk & paying then I did waiting in line. So why the rude remark? I gave them business & was willing to wait in like for a small order with no problem at all. Not sure why this order seemed like such an inconvience to her, or like what I did was meant to feel "wrong". On a positive note, I was once again satisfied with my purchase..just not the customer...
Read moreI like the State St. location, and live closer to it, but usually drive to the Parkcenter location. I like to be able to sit down inside a restaurant. There is a heated tent at the State St. location during the winter. That's kinda fun, but I prefer an enclosed place.
The menu and food at both locations is amazing!! Best burgers I have had in Boise, and that is saying a lot, since there are some fantastic burger joints in this city!
I usually go for a meatloaf sandwich, Westside sub (which might not be on the menu anymore, but you can still order it - a half order is huge - a full-size sub will feed two adults) or Maui burger.
Milkshakes and malts are great. If you are old enough, you can get a root beer float made with rootbeer that contains alcohol.
The Parkcenter location is in a lovely area. You can sit out on the patio and look up at the hills.
Of course, '50's music is always playing in the restaurant, and you can watch the videos on a screen near the back.
Tuesdays, there is a discount for seniors. I like to go on Tuesdays so my dad can get a discount.
The sides are very tasty. I usually get sweet potato fries with a sugary dip.
Sandwiches and dinners are also great. Try a Monte Cristo with jam!
Service has always been excellent.
This is my favorite restaurant in town, and the one I go to the most, even though it takes me quite awhile to...
Read moreIf you're cruising through Boise and looking for a blast from the past with a side of incredible eats, you have to pull into Westside Drive-In off Parkcenter! This place isn't just a diner; it's a full-blown 50s experience! And yes, you can actually enjoy a cold beer with your meal, which is a fantastic touch for those of us who appreciate a good brew with our classic diner fare.
Now, let's talk about the food, specifically the fingersteaks. I'm not exaggerating when I say these are the best fingersteaks in Idaho. Seriously. They're perfectly battered, incredibly tender, and seasoned just right. Each bite is pure bliss, especially when dipped in their house-made fry sauce. We also dove into a classic cheeseburger and a Banana/Chocolate milkshake, both of which were absolutely on point—juicy, flavorful, and thick enough to make your straw stand up straight.
The service was impeccable too. Leslie, who took our order was super friendly, efficient, and really added to the fun atmosphere. It’s clear the team here loves what they do, and it shows in every detail. It's the perfect spot for a delicious meal, a cold beer, and a trip down memory lane. Don't miss out on those...
