I stopped by this cafe on my way to work one day to grab some food and a coffee, I had never been before. When I was waiting for my sandwich to be made (grilled cheese with tuna) the worker came out of the back area with a tub of tuna, I could see the date on it and it was 3 days past expired. I called out to get his attention to double check that I was reading correctly, I asked him if I could see the date on the label, he kindly grabbed the tub and showed me and what I saw was correct, it was expired by 3 days, I could smell the sourness when he brought the tub closer to me. I kindly asked to not continue my order as the tuna is expired, he started to argue with me to say that it wasn't expired and just had the wrong date on it. I told him it smelled sour and he just shrugged, walking back to continue the order. I started to leave the cafe and another employee yelled out and said I still had to pay for the sandwich. I will never make the mistake of going here again. Also the tables had trash all over them while no one but the employees were in there, all standing around talking until I came in to place my order. Sorry if anyone else had to experience this. I've called the food and health department to report...
Read moreWow, what an enlightening experience at Zeppole today. I walked in with the wild, outlandish expectation of ordering three turkey club sandwiches. Silly me — apparently, that’s a foreign concept here. There was no menu in sight (because who needs menus when you’re running a food establishment?), and the staff treated my presence like I had just asked them to solve a math equation on the spot.
When I said “turkey club,” one employee gave me the kind of look usually reserved for someone who just tried to order sushi at a gas station. Then came the interrogation: “What do you want on it?” I don’t know, maybe… the stuff that usually comes on a turkey club? Turkey. Bacon. Lettuce. Tomato. Mayo. You know, the basics that every human who’s ever eaten lunch knows.
But okay, I played along, got the sandwiches, and left. Big mistake. When we opened them up later, it looked like someone had vaguely heard of a sandwich once and tried to recreate it from memory (see photo). Just turkey, a few sad veggies, and dry bread. No bacon. No mayo. No love. It was like the ghost of a sandwich — and not a particularly...
Read moreWe like zeppole. The employees are really friendly and helpful. We like their brutti rolls, sourdough loaf and challah buns, etc. So when we heard they were doing croissants we were so excited! But unfortunately, they were the worst pastries we’ve ever had. We went on a Saturday morning, around 9:30 expecting fresh baked pastries, but all of them were stale. We ordered 2 chocolate croissants, 2 plain, and a berry danish. They were not flaky, they were dry and chewy. Selling old croissants is not acceptable!
UPDATE: Zeppole recently changed the ingredients in their sandwich loaves and possibly others. As you can see in the picture, their rustic wheat loaf used to have minimal ingredients, but now they have added artificial flavors, mono & diglycarides, etc., as pictured. Please go back to your old recipe, your bread was delicious and healthier the way it was! I would much rather get my bread from a local company like you guys then from a...
