Let me start off by saying our server, Alex, was pretty good for the most part and if I had liked anything else, I would have came back. My table ordered the full rack of ribs w/ salad & scalloped potatoes au gratin, strip steak w/ salad & red skin garlic mashed potatoes, combo sampler(arrived after entree since it was remade due to the original being handed off to a table incorrectly), frozen “strawberry” margarita, mango smoothie, water, and ginger ale.
Only mentions a full bar, available wine, and margaritas/Daiquiris frozen or normal. Our server didn’t know the wine selection so come prepared to educate them on your preference and hope it’s available. The strip steak ,while sizable, needed seasoning to the point even A1 couldn’t bring life to it. The salad is in a small bowl that is split by the table, or at least in my case two adults. Ribs tasted burnt and equally as bad as the “bbq” sauce they poured on the rack. I couldn’t finish it. Not for lack of appetite, but lack of will to put myself through attempting another bite. The potatoes all around required seasoning and flavor of some type. The au gratin was undercooked which left pieces of raw potato mixed in. The margarita was effectively just syrup and minimum alcohol, but you bet they charged us. I’ve been sober since April and could have drunk it and still wouldn’t break sobriety. The ginger ale was basically just watered down to the point that I was paying just under $5 for water. Smoothie tasted like they blended some syrup and ice. The appetizer when it eventually arrived, after being delivered to the wrong table and had to be remade, was ok. Ok being the best I can give as the rest of the meal set my expectations rock bottom. At some point we noticed the lights being cut off and people being ushered out and we hadn’t cashed out. We had to ask the guy bussing The tables to find our server since it looked like they were going to close down around us. She came back briefly and disappeared leaving us confused on what to do and after some time she returned so we could leave. Verdict: Keep expectations low and try to get seated with Alex. At the very least she’ll make your...
Read moreThis place use to be the best place I've ever ate , not anymore.. the melt in your mouth ribeye has now become more tuff and chewey than the ribeye at savAlot. Over the last couple years it seems he has started buying meat from old milk cows or something. Im not even sure the steak we got there last weekend was even ribeye but maybe chuckeye . It had no fat or lip a normal ribeye normally has and definitely didn't melt in my mouth. Hurt my jaw chewing it . I actually believe it was a roast cut to somewhat look like almost the shape of a ribeye. As was our last few steaks we've ate there.. never again !! We bragged and brought friends only to receive tuff steaks (or roast cut like steak) knatts and flies kept buzzing around bothering us. Tuff roast steaks came before our apps :( Totally embarrassing. We've gave the place more than 3 chances hoping it was just a bad cut of steak last time , but its gotten even worse over time. Its not ribeye its a roast cut to look similar. I previously had a 5 star review for this place and it was my favorite restaurant. With the price going up as high as it is and the quality dropped as low as it now is I hate to say we wont be returning. A year ago we complained about the tuff steak , last week we told our server it was extremely tuff and her reply was :: "i dont know, i dont eat steak" Sad to see this place go down hill. Harry has to already know he is buying a cheaper quality or grade of ribeye. If not he should know now. We've mentioned it numerous times and we have now changed our review because of it. And we had to keep our winter coats on because it was freezing in the restaurant while harry sat on the patio "under a heat lamp" by his fireplace and big screen tv while his restaurant is freezing and serving roast steaks.. (wake up dude) we've spent a lot of money at your place over the last 15 years.. Its a slap...
Read moreThe food was better than expected for the price. We both got the bone in delmonico steak. Mine was ordered med rare, but came back barely cooked rare. Fortunately, I can handle that and it was delicious.
The only reason for the 3 out of 5 stars was our waitress. We sat for 15 minutes before she approached us. And pretty much ignored us our whole meal.
The two times she did tend to us, she would have excuses of why she wasn't available, even though I literally watched her sit down in a booth with other workers doing nothing but taking with them.
After eating we waited a long time for her to come give us our check.
She dropped of our check, went and sat down again in a booth with her friends, and after 14 minutes (I timed it) I had to find another waiter to cash us out and bring us boxes. I just asked him to go grab her for us but instead he professionally handled the situation and apologized for her...
She noticed her colleague helping us and ran over to us only to give an excuse of "sorry a customer was actual choking on her food and it was a big scene" clearly lying to us.
Needless to say, I was not happy. This was the first time in my life I have ever tipped lower than 20%, I wanted to leave nothing, but my conscience would not let me. All she did was make us wait, take our order, make us wait, bring our food, and make us wait more... No checking on us mid meal, no refills on drinks, etc .. I wish could have given the tip to the gentleman who helped us at the end...
It's sad that piss poor service can totally ruin an experience and prevent customers from coming back. Fortunately, the food was decent enough that it will...
