Starbucks — Restaurant in Independence

Not as busy as usual but the parking lot was insanely busy. They honestly need to move to a more easily accessible location. Even if it's in the row of buildings facing it sideways. It would give it more parking as well. But it wouldn't be too awfully much better as far as getting in and out. Inside the store was clean, tables wiped down, counters as well. Several employees were standing around. A few talking amongst themselves. 2 maybe 3 working drive thru. Another walked in, manager (?) this one asked if I was ready to order then directed me toward the register if I was. I declined adding that I was waiting on someone who stepped out. Once they returned we were looking over the menu when someone (finally) asked if we were ready to order. I am terrible at deciding when I go here just so everyone knows that. So anyway, my daughter had already decided what she wanted or at least narrowed it down to two. So I told the barista what I enjoy or felt like and she gave me her suggestion, I agreed instantly with her suggestion. Sounded great and...

I used to regularly patronize this location Most staff are friendly and very competent. I like seeing friendly faces. But, as they say, there are always a few…. A new employee was either not given the tools she needed for success, or a barista is not her forte. She was rude, asking me what the drink I had ordered was, charged me $2 extra and made more than one of my drink orders wrong in the past two months. Patience with new employees is kindness. Rudeness in employees is uncalled for. Another loudly reprimanded me when I started to pour my drink into my take out cup. She had greeted me when I entered but did not mention she would be with me. I thought I was supposed to serve myself as the drink was sitting right at the take out counter. With little other than customer service to pull in patrons, this barista failed in a situation that should have been handled differently. My daughter and I often have coffee dates at various coffee shops quite often , and this Starbucks happens to be the closest and fastest for when we need something quick. The baristas are always friendly and it is so so clean. HOWEVER .... RECENTLY .. we have been pushed to go through the drive thru which is not how we like to enjoy our coffee because of temporary hours and the lobby being closed , so to get our goodies we have to sit in a line for the drive through for 30 -40 mins which pushes us to go to other coffee shops instead. Which is sad , but we have found because of this new and different shops. My daughter loves nitro though , so we will keep trying, but I am fine getting my coffee from places that are open...
