Dive Bar & Grille (Indiana Twp) — Restaurant in Indiana Township

Wife and I stopped in for dinner and had an excellent experience. The service was great. We were greeted and seated by John. My wife tells me he was the owner. I missed that and assumed he was the GM. Our waitress was also very nice and attentive. John popped in to chit-chat here and there before our meal arrived.

The loaded baked potato soup was amazing and I'd have been back today had I thought it might be on the menu but, alas, it was a special and not a permanent item. It may have been the best potato soup that I've ever had. My wife had french onion soup and thought it was among the best that she's had. Lucky for her, this is a menu item.

The wife loved her smokehouse burger and I enjoyed my fish sandwich. I opted in for upgrading to sweet potato fries (not upsold, which I appreciate). They were among the best I've ever had if not the best.

We greatly enjoyed our meal and service. No regrets and we only lament not being able to try more...

Food is good, we typically get sandwiches and it’s reasonably priced. The service however has never been great. Tonight was especially poor, the place was not crowded. The waitress took our order quickly and brought the first round of drinks. The portobello mushroom appetizer took about 20 minutes and was quickly dropped by another server. My drink was empty before we started the appetizer. We finished the appetizer and the chicken sandwiches were delivered 15 minutes later by our waitress and she got me another drink. She never checked back on us to see how the food was or to get another round of drinks. We were finished with our meal and waiting about another 15 minutes and still no sign of our waitress. I finally got up and walked around the restaurant to track her down to ask for the bill. There’s several other good options in the area with much more...

I want to offer an update to the below review. The establishment reached out to me to get a better understanding of the server issues and I do appreciate that attentiveness. I also want to offer an apology to the ownership and other staff working as I should have addressed this directly with the manager on duty before leaving a review.

It’s been a long time since I’ve experienced service this terrible…ordered from the bar several times because our “server” rarely came to the table to check on things. We were never checked on after food was eventually served, dishes/glasses were not cleared and stacked up at the end of the table, no follow up at anytime and most of the bills were incorrectly entered and needed redone. No excuse for this level of service.
