If I could give negative stars, I would. I had Mongolian beef. Those at my table had pork lo mein, beef lo mein, general tso, crab Rangoon, egg drop soup, hot and sour soup, and happy family. We walked in at 7:30. Google told us Wong’s was open til 9. We were immediately huffed at for walking in the door. That should have been my first clue to turn around and walk out. Our server was about as grumpy as I’ve seen. She told us to hurry up and order because they were about to close. We all asked for waters. It tastes like it was out of the toilet tank. We asked for duck sauce. She said it was the brown stuff in front of us. We asked when ordering what the best thing on the menu was and she said she was sick of it all. Red flag number 2.
White rice - was crunchy. Literally could hear everyone crunching it across the table. Either had been sitting literally all day and dried out or wasn’t cooked at all.
Mongolian beef - slimy, tasted like it had brown gravy from a jar on it. Zero flavor.
Beef lo mein - very mid-line but was one of the only dishes that was actually hot when we got it.
Happy family - zero flavor
Hot and sour soup - was as if it had lost the black pepper lid in it when they shook it over the pan.
Crab Rangoon was extra crunchy…cooked too long.
We won’t be back. The reviews on here are very misleading. You can’t get this much wrong and still have a high number of stars.
The man at the register was the only nice thing...
Read moreThis place doesn’t deserve a single star, in my opinion. I’ve been here a couple times for a quick lunch. Other times, the food was decent, but nothing to die for. Panda Express tastes better. I’m Chinese and had eaten many great authentic Chinese food in Hong Kong, California and New York. Wong’s should be named “Wrong”. It’s not good and it’s definitely not anywhere authentic.
Long story short. Don’t eat here, unless you want to get sick!! I took my kids to eat there today 10/27/2018. My daughter and son found a bug that look a lot like a roach inside the the sweet and sour chicken. We told the waitress immediately(Kia), she immediately brought that onto her manager’s attention. The old man took the bug out, flicked the bug out and got the nerves to tell us there’s no bug! My son got up and confronted the old man of what we saw. Old man didn’t know how tell response, but told us “No charge”. Yeah, cause I wasn’t planning to pay for that nasty roach inside my food. Do yourself a favor, eat somewhere else, perhaps, Panda Express would be a much suitable place to eat. At least they are 100% clean and the chow mien look like chow mien not some plain dried crispy noodles from Wongs. It was an huge disappointment. I would not recommend any of my friends, family and coworkers...
Read moreWong's is my second-favorite place to eat whenever I'm in the Warsaw/Winona area -- but my very favorite is the home of two of my friends from college, so Wong's comes out tops as far as restaurants are concerned.
The food is very good and significantly more authentic than a typical run-of-the-mill American Chinese restaurant. The specifically Cantonese focus may contribute to the authenticity, or maybe it's just because the restaurant has been around since before most folks in rural Indiana had much experience with other Chinese restaurants. There are a few concessions to Americanization, however. For example, they do have fortune cookies and provide cutlery. But ordering tea at Wong's automatically gets you green tea, since way back in the eighties before most Midwesterners even knew there was such a thing as green tea.
I've never had any complaints about the service.
The decor is unremarkable but pleasant.
One caveat: I haven't been out to Winona Lake recently, so it's vaguely conceivable that something has changed. Unlikely -- last time I ate at Wong's, it hadn't changed significantly in thirty years (which is good; I wouldn't want it to change) -- but possible.
The prices are midrange -- not ultra cheap, but very reasonable for...
