This is probably the first Google review I've ever left. Anyways, being I'm a cook/chef by profession and I not being from Philly I was craving a Authentic Philly Cheesesteak being Hoagies&Hops is the only spot in Indianapolis deemed that. By the way I make a Very good Cheesesteak myself along with Eggrolls as well. It was Sunday didn't feel like cooking so I drove 25min to visit H&H. I got a small chicken Philly, the meat was bland and unseasoned. Just a chicken breast cut into big cubes with provolone cheese. That's it no flavor whatsoever. I also ordered a Large traditional Ribeye Philly with cheese wiz fried onions and payed extra for sharp provolone. No flavor whatsoever even with the cheese and fried onions BLAND. the meat was barely even Chopped when I bit into it just stringy bland undercooked meat that got stuck in my teeth for 15min from first bite. It was so chewy I just spit it out!. I Also got side of fries which were just crinkle cut no season as well. This was my 3nd time visiting can't remember experience 1st visit because it was many years ago. But if this is Authentic Pennsylvania food it's not a good look in the Midwest. $31 plus tip at register was definitely not worth it especially since craving for days. The owner whom I always see smiling on the News and on Facebook (because I do follow) wasn't in that mood at all. She didn't ring up my order but did hand me my food. She didn't smile, barely even looked at me and the seemingly forced, "have a good day" as I grabbed my bag, was pretty much all that I received. I'm aware everyone is not smiling 24hrs a day but as the owner and the amount of support the Butler Community and the rest of Indy gives I guess I just expected a little more that's here nor there. Also I ve been to Chicken and Fish Spots in Indy like Jordan's for example who serve up tastier Phillys chicken and traditional style. Didn't want to make this review but I had to express my experience being I love good...
Read moreI visited Hoagies and Hops yesterday (February 10, 2021) and arrived at the restaurant at 5:36 pm, waited in line until 5:42 p.m and then placed my order where I placed an order that was almost $50 in total, at 6:14 p.m my food comes out and one of the two sandwiches I ordered is completely wrong. I don’t know how the cashier misheard “9 inch cheesesteak” with “7 inch chicken hoagie” but that was the mix up. So with having to take the sandwich to the counter to be corrected I sat and waited a second time for an order correction, so from 6:14.pm until 7:14 pm AN ENTIRE HOUR i’m still siting and waiting to be given A CHEESESTEAK SANDWICH!! I was very patient at this point and NOT pleased with the service so I then go and ask at the counter again if my order is ready and after now waiting an HOUR and THIRTY TWO minutes i’m told that my sandwich was prepared already and GIVEN to another customer with a take out order so I was completely taken as a joke at this point and told it would be right up! I don’t know what’s worse.. the fact that after being at the restaurant for almost two hours with NO FOOD or the fact that the employees working found it funny that the sandwich I had been waiting on was given away in another order! VERY POOR SERVICE and A VERY BAD EXPERIENCE for my first time here!! I DO NOT recommend visiting and if you do visit here please make sure you are serviced in a timely manner no matter HOW BUSY THEY ARE!! Good customer service speaks for itself and at 7:20.pm I was STILL there waiting for my sandwich to be brought out! Very displeased for someone who spent almost $50 with this place! I can NOT recommend this place for lack of customer...
Read moreWe decided to visit after having a great experience at the food truck when they visited Phil's Produce in Perry Township in September 2024. My cheesesteak, which had the cooper sharp with onions and long hots, was extremely delicious. The Cooper Sharp added a creamy and sharp profile to the cheesesteak that I had never experienced before. Sadly, when I got to the end of the roll where the meat wasn't covered in cheese, it was very dry. My son ordered the chicken cheesesteak with provolone, onions, and long hots. He thought it was okay, and it could have been better had it had more cheese and wasn't so dry. My wife ordered the cheesesteak with ribeye, provolone, and onions. She wasn't impressed because the sandwich was dry all throughout. Also, my wife ordered the potato salad. It had no flavor whatsoever and tasted like boiled potatoes that hadn't been seasoned. The Bacon Cheese Fries were delicious but could have been a bit crispier. We sat on the Chilly Water Brewing side, and the tables had a leather like covering that was torn and falling apart in multiple places. That is concerning because appearance plays a role in the rating. I'll be honest that the cheesesteaks tasted far better from the food truck than at the location. The flavors were on point, and there weren't any dry spots or dryness to speak of. I'm not sure why the cheesesteaks didn't taste the same at the restaurant, and it was a bit of a letdown since we expected so much more based on a...
