So many things to say about our visit. We asked for a booth but was told we had to have a party of 4. All booths were empty and we were only a party of 2. We were seated at a small table that was still dirty at the end of a row of empty, clean tables with the flatware already set. We slide to the clean table next to us. We always sit directly next to each other when dinning out. Our waiter noticed us sitting next to each other and turned the table so we would have more room to eat still sitting side by side. We ordered two long islands and they did not taste good. We did not taste any alcohol. Tasted like sweetened Coke-a-cola. It looked like the person who made our drinks was looking up recipes on their phone. I don't think the person who made our drinks was licensed to do so. Looked like the actual bartender came in as were were finished up and about to exit. Three employees came with our drinks and stood at our table just to watch us try them, weird! We told them we didn't taste any alcohol and advised we didn't want them. Our waiters rebuttal was that he watched her make the drinks and she definitely put alcohol in them.We were told we would still be charged for them and the staff kept asking if we still wanted to send them back or keep them. Why would we send them back if we still had to pay for them?? A different waitress came and offered to bring us two shots of alcohol to help. We accepted. She made sure we knew we would be charged for them. OK, because it was never about the money. Our drinks were still not good even with the additional alcohol added. He ordered braised oxtails, cabbage, sweet potatoes and fried corn. I ordered roast, cabbage and black eyed peas. He did not get his cabbage so I shared mine with him. His corn was creamed corn, we were expecting fried corn. My roast was bland and drowned in some type of gravy but the rest of the food was good. Last but not least, our waiter asked if he could bring the bill before he went on his break and we accepted the offer, not knowing bringing the bill meant he would stand at our table waiting for payment as well. Our waiter cleared our waters before we were finished, which is what I was drinking. My glass of long island was still full. Our bill was well over $100 for the two of us, which we are accustomed to paying plus tips. The level of service did NOT match what we experienced. I also tipped the waitress that offered a more logical solution to the drink issue.

So let me start off by saying I ordered this online, I believe it's what they consider a combo, which was 2 fried chicken wings, A slice of meatloaf, collard greens, dressing, and I added an extra side of mac and cheese. Overall, the food looked decent, The chicken wings were decent but really didn't have a lot of flavor, but that can be acceptable. The macaroni and cheese seemed like it came directly out of a box. It was dry, with no real cheese flavor. The meat loaf was probably the tastiest thing. I'm not a fan of the ketchup glaze or whatever it was, I prefer gravy, but this one was fine. The biggest issue is the fact that maybe because I ordered it online It told me the food would be ready by 8:26PM, I arrived 10 minutes early. I asked one of the wait staff about my order, which she asked me my name and said she'd look into it, but 10 or 12 minutes later, I'm standing there and she's still dealing with people in the restaurant which is fine, I wouldn't expect her to stop doing her job just to accommodate me when you have other staff standing around not dying much, coming in. After the 10 or 12 minute, wait. Another representative saw me standing there and asked if I had been helped where she went back and grabbed my food and gave it to someone else who brought it to me. Now I'm not a resident of Indianapolis, but where I'm staying is about 5 minutes away from the restaurant so once I get back home, take the food out of the bag everything is pretty much cold like it had been sitting for a long time prior to me getting there plus the time it waited. So I'm not really sure if it's the restaurants fault or whatever app they're using for their online services is maybe overestimating how long the food should take. But I think in cases like this, a telephone call or text letting the customer know the food is ready could be helpful because in my case, even though I showed up 10 minutes earlier, I was in their parking lot 10 minutes prior to that now, in all honesty, you can track your food through the app, but I think it's just as inaccurate. So in my opinion the food really doesn't stand out in any way. It's food. It tasted fine just not a lot of flavor I will say, the collard greens were kinda salty but that could just be because it's the end of the night, the dressing didn't have much flavor It just tasted like dressing. I've already commented on Mac and cheese and the chicken, which was also partially soggy

If I didn’t already know how good the food was, the service alone would’ve made me leave. First, at 7:30 we were told there was a 30 minute wait, fine for us. We were seated 45 minutes later around 8:15. Then our server was probably the worst server I’ve ever had.

When our server took our drink order (8:20) she made it very obvious that she didn’t know what our drinks are and said she’ll just talk to the bartender. The drinks were an amaretto sour and an old fashioned….. Our sodas came out around 8:35 and our alcoholic drinks came out at 9, wrong, while our appetizer came out shortly after that. At this point our server still hadn’t taken our food order yet. In fact, we can’t even see her on the floor like all the other servers. At 9:10 she FINALLY takes our order AN HOUR after we’re sat. At 9:25 our server asks how we’re doing, we say service is taking a minute tonight, she tells us she’s gonna go check on our food, doesn’t come back. At 9:35 we talk to the manager, she says they had a 22-top when we came in that was finishing up their meal and it pushed kitchen behind. Apparently our server was supposed to let us know. She says she’ll discount our meal. A meal that came out after more than two hours of us just sitting at our table (9:45). At the end of the night, the discount was only $40 off when it should’ve been free. Our server was also not informed that our meal should be discounted and made it very obvious that she was not happy about it. Completely gross behavior acting like it was our fault she gave us poor service. Any other restaurant would’ve comped the food or at least taken 50% off. This whole night was nothing but irritating and upsetting. We were the last table to leave that night.

It was very busy when we first arrived (7:30) my partner and I both work in a restaurant so we’re always more lenient than the average customer when service takes a little longer, but taking a tables actual food order an hour after they’ve been seated is INSANE. A bartender making two well known drinks with the wrong ingredients is INSANE. Meanwhile, a couple ladies who were sat right after us with a different server were packing up their food bc they finished before we even got our food.

This is the second time we have been to the new location and from now on we will probably just not go back. I was so excited to see a black business finally try to go upscale but that simply cannot be done if your employees lack the ability to...
