Maple Leaf Cafe — Restaurant in Indianapolis

So surprised to see the other reviews being positive because my experience was so unlike what anyone else seems to have gone through. When I walked in, there was what seemed like a mom and her adult daughter behind the counter. The mom seemed to just be helping the daughter out, because she did not know anything about coffee, prices, or any part of the process. Despite knowing this, the daughter left the store for the mom to help me alone. Not sure why because I’m not even sure if the mom works there, that is how little she understood what was going on. When I asked if I could have a latte, they said the espresso machine was broken because someone put milk in the machine and left it (very confused by this sentence because you do NOT put milk in the espresso machine. You do put milk under the sprayer for lattes, but that is not in the machine and would not break the entire machine.) So I was given regular coffee from a cup (which would be fine), unmeasured syrup, and though I ordered it ice the coffee was done first, so only one scoop of ice was given. I asked for one more scoop, but didn’t want to keep asking, so settled for gross lukewarm coffee I didn’t get to eat. When trying to pay she had clearly never used the system, so I’m really not sure why she was left alone to stumble. I got there 10 mins before my ride who still ended up getting there before I left, which I really don’t consider good time management. I don’t blame the mom for not knowing how to make coffee, but I am disappointed that she would be left alone. If it wasn’t her first day, then I am shocked and confused.

I only stopped in for a few minutes because I was on my way to class, but I was excited to see a place pretty close to my home! I was met with a calm and quiet atmosphere when I walked in. I got to chat with the owner and the chef while I was waiting on my drink, and they both were very sweet and friendly. I got a caramel latte, which was pretty good! I have a sweet tooth though, so if you aren't a big fan of sweet drinks, maybe get a latte without any flavor. I would love to come back and try their food, as well as other...

Great little neighborhood nook, perfect for a light lunch or a quick coffee. New place attached to an event venue with a enough seating for a few small groups. Food was simple yet delicious - the Chef was kind enough to accommodate swapping my bun for a lettuce wrap. Looking forward to seeing the business grow since they are just getting started. Would love to have some music playing inside and a few more outdoor tables and chairs. Definitely...
