My company booked The Garrison for a 2 day conference for just shy of a fortune - about $18,000 in total. The venue itself is fine, maybe a little dated, but not entirely unpleasent visually. The outside patio is actually really beautiful because it overlooks the golf coure. That's as far as the niceities go, though.
The first day of the conference was met with several difficulties on the venue's part - breakfast was an hour late, sound system was not set up or worked out, etc. We, of course, understand that hiccups happen, but it was defintely a little rough. Then luch came around... My company specifically asked for dietary accomodations, months in advance, for both days of the conference. We asked for vegan and vegetarian options, and not only were there NO options, but they could not even tell us if any of the available food had contaminants or allergy information, which we also inquired about. Those with the dietary needs were offered the salad bar outisde of the conference hall, against the policy of the venue, and the staff memeber that cared about us was repriamded for ensuring guests had something to eat. The the next day, anticipating the problem again, my company director attempted to bring in a local vegan pizza, just for those who needed the accomodation, while still utilizing the food package bought for the conference. We were promptly and RUDELY informed that no outside food was allowed, which would have been fine if there were any options for those who needed them, but there was not, and the outside food was already paid for! The staff - a woman named Janet, I believe - literally forced both internal company partners and guests of the conference to THE PARKING LOT TO EAT, no exaggeration. The Garrison did not apoligize for the inconvience or lack of service on their part, despite the advanced notice. We were treated absolutely horribly. I have never seen anything quite like it.
We were planning on returning back for another conference in a few months, but will not be. Don't book here or even bother visiting, there are way better places...
Read morewe went (party of 4) on March 24. Upon arrival the lobby was full and there was no one around to tell anyone what was going on. There was a lady at the register that finally told us the system was down and she would have to do a manual check-in. I was ready to go them but we had driven a while and the rest of the party want to stay. So after 30 in the lobby and 15 minutes waiting to be seated I was over it. But everyone was like the food will make the wait worth it. That did not happen most of the food was cold the catfish was seasoned well but who want cold fish, same with the salmon. I was shocked that the hash browns were from bag to pan. No seasoning at all and they were cold mini-bricks. I mean the Roast Beef was not good. The chicken would have been good if it was hot. When I say the food was cold I don't mean room temp, you needed a microwave to heat it up. I will say the Omelet and Waffle were great, they were made to order and were hot I also enjoyed the fruit and Salad. . This was not fine dining and for $30 a person that is what I expect. If you are thinking of Garrison's for brunch Don't you will be...
Read moreThe food was alright, about what you’d expect from there if you have been there before. But the kitchen is extremely slow. So slow it took 1 hour and 15 minutes for one cheeseburger, one breaded tenderloin, and one chef salad. The waitress and the young man she was training were very apologetic, gave us free drinks and 3 pieces of cheesecake to take with us. They were both extremely attentive and worked hard to keep the table happy. But any chef(s) that cannot handle 10 people being in the restaurant needs to either retire, quit and go back to whatever bar he was cooking at before, or management needs to step up and make some adjustments. During the week, businesses all around Ft Ben need places to eat. If you cannot turn a table over in 45 minutes, you’ve got much larger issues. Shame too, the weekday buffet was always great but they don’t offer it anymore.
So the two stars are for the two waiters since they had to be the ones apologizing for the kitchen. The cheesecake was a nice offer but let’s face it, it’s not homemade and they were probably ready to...
