I visited three times this week. I called initially to see about placing a placing a delivery order to the library, I was informed they only had carry at at this time. Drivers were limited.
I read the reviews. So after reading about the Lasagna Pizza and the grave reviews I decided I would go once I left the library.
I walked in and the server told me that I could sit anywhere I like. I had an excellent first time experience. I had Lasagna Pizza and a spinach salad.
My waiter checked on me frequently. I could rave on him all day long. He and the gentleman cleaning the tables need a raise for their services.
Since I know they did not have delivery. I went ahead and did a carryout order the next day. I could not get enough of the Lasagna Pizza. The lady who took my carryout order told me it would take 15 to 20 minutes. I walked to the gas station, returned to the Jockamo, and then walked too wherever I wanted to go to next.
The third day. I walked in. It was a little busier than my first experience. It was not overly crowded. I asked to sit at a table on one of the walls rather than in the middle of the room where I was being asked to sit.
I was told no due to setting arrangements. I could have chosen to leave, but I decided to stay. I could read the greeters face and tell she thought that decision was out of her hands.
I wanted to try something different. Therefore, I ordered the Lazy Boy Pizza. The waitresses and waiters worked as a team. I was checked on often. They have a great team going.
A lot of times when I visit an establishment. It is to continue working on business projects. That third day I arrived at about 6:30 p.m. and left at around closing time. I asked for items as I packaged up to leave. The lady behind the counted pleasantly handed them to me.
The seat that I had desired in the back of the room in which to work. No one sat at that table the duration of my visit. It was empty in a half full room. Where people request to be seated if a table is available and does not take up too much...
Read moreFound a long white hair in the pizza.
Otherwise:
Not stellar - for the hair strand.
The pizza 'ok' but not our favorite list. The crust may have been just a notch on the dry side. The pizza toppings were borderline 'stuffed' category but maybe that's their style, almost as much topping thickness as the crust. Now, the toppings were fresh and the sauce slightly sweet which for me is better than scarce and tangy/spicy. The serverS were very courteous and checked on us frequently, so the service attentiveness was pretty good (maybe too much.. read on). The clientele had a lot of families with young children along with couples and those seated in the bar. They were busy/full when we arrived so a good sign. I would say the environment is very casual city not suburban. Not necessarily a reflection on the restaurant but maybe its locale is we encountered a few patrons on the rough cut but most not so if you're looking for yuppiedom or the place where 'everybody knows your name' this may not be it. There are 2 other restaurant locations and this one's probably in the least affluent area.
So what might have gone wrong - hair in the pizza, dirty plates, bathroom overflowing paper towels on the floor, little scraps on the main room floor and no one seen sweeping at any time, We shared a salad so used the initial plates and then had to ask for another set for the pizza, additional plates should have been brought out with the pizza. There may have been some miscommunication as our two servers each brought out a bill, which seemed awkward when we thought we had only one server. Or maybe somewhere we were supposed to pay twice.
I will say none of the other patrons seemed fazed. by these details, so maybe that's the Jockamo way, granted they were busy. I've worked restaurants and concession stands and know how chaos happens.
Would we come back? If no hair in the food. We'd probably try another place rather than just think Jockamo as...
Read moreThe restaurant was clean and inviting, but service was very slow. We were seated right away. But from the time we ordered, it took almost a full hour for us to get our one 12 inch pizza, and it wasn’t THAT busy when we went. We even noticed a couple tables of people who arrived after us and got their pizzas and were eating way before us. And some of them had ordered multiple pizzas, and we only ordered one.
Our waitress only came around once every 20 minutes or so. We wanted to order an appetizer, but by the time she came back around, we ended up just ordering it with our pizza order. And it took especially long at the end, when we were waiting for her to come back so we could ask for the check. She was very nice though.
The breadsticks with the creamy Parmesan sauce were my favorite part of the meal. The breadsticks were cooked perfectly and that sauce is super delicious, 5 stars. The pizza was decent. We’re from Chicago, so our expectations are high. We got a 12” pizza - half Bollywood, half Luau. The Luau barely had any bbq sauce on it, I think more sauce would have made it taste significantly better. The little sauce I did taste was good. It did have a good amount of toppings, but I feel like it was lacking flavor. I would give the Luau 2.5 stars, it REALLY needed more flavor. My boyfriend enjoyed the Bollywood pizza, he said he would give that one 4 stars out of 5. We appreciated the variety of specialty pizza offerings and the fact that they let you do half and half.
We noticed there were NO paper towels in the men’s or women’s bathroom.
Overall, I’m glad we tried this place. I would probably go back just for the breadsticks and creamy Parmesan sauce alone if I’m ever...
