A case of (what I hope is not) selective service, plus some constructive criticism.
Disclaimer: This is not an accusation, this is just an observation. I have never played the race card in a restaurant or other service-based business EVER. I’ve never really seen a reason for discrimination in a business to ever happen, and quite frankly, I believe it’s practically nonexistent these days. However, this time around, it’s UNDENIABLE. Food was good, but service was terrible.
So me and my Latino party of 3 came here for the first time (we were the only Latino party in the restaurant). We were promptly seated and our drink orders were taken after ten minutes. “A bit timey” I thought, but I brushed it off. After 3 minutes, our drinks were served. Here is where it gets a bit odd: our server did not come back to take our order until 15-20 minutes later. All the server was checking up on other tables around us. In addition, they never came by to ask us if we wanted our drinks refilled in that time window. The funny part is, they were filling the glasses of other tables around us, and they weren’t even half-empty! Anyways, the server came to take our orders for the appetizers and the main dishes. Our appetizers weren’t served until 45 MINUTES later, and our main dishes weren’t served until MORE THAN AN HOUR LATER AFTER OUR APPETIZERS WERE SERVED. All while the people around us got their appetizers and main dishes in LESS THAN 10 MINUTES (I asked around to confirm). We also weren’t being checked up on. My party and I were like “ok what the hell is going on?” We had to remind the servers multiple times about our dishes.
After the food, we promptly and respectfully confronted staff. Our server made the excuse that the computer he was using wasn’t taking our orders. But all while he was serving his OTHER assigned customers! And he was using THE SAME DAMN COMPUTER! Quite frankly, it was one of the stupidest excuses I’ve heard.
Off topic: The place REEKED. The bathroom stunk BAD and the stench reached all the way to our booth. I could also hear adjacent booths...
Read moreWe had heard about Luna's from neighbors and we decided to give it a try. We showed up and they actually had a place available; they were crowded; which we were happy about. But we did get a place by the service kitchen in/out door, which we heard the word "corner" yelled about 50 times. Wish they would install some mirrors so the employees didn't have to yell "corner" every minute they were next to customer's tables. My husband had the stake and fries, He was very happy with them. The temperature was great. The server asked us to cut open our stakes to check the temperature before he walked away which I thought was great. I had the filet mignon, It was delicious and I And cooked perfectly. I especially enjoyed the peppercorn sauce which was there was very little. I asked to order more, no problem. The plates looked a little plain and non decorative . So, if you eat with your eyes as well, you might want to close your eyes and eat with your mouth. It does taste delicious. We ordered the pizza tonight, we were very surprised at the very small pizza that we received for $22. Just a plain Cheese Pizza with pepperoni & light sauce. Unfortunately, our second pizza that we received was light sauce as well, even though we wanted regular sauce. The pizzas were very small. The crust was very soft. We were unimpressed. We will definitely not be ordering the pizza again. I cannot say enough positive things about the staff that works there. They are happy. They are accommodating. They're caring and I would definitely go back just for the...
Read moreA very nice, very attractive decor, food that is food, but not spectacular, and a price point that seemed a little too high for the overall experience. This restaurant certainly tries to be special but at least for our first try falls a bit short.
With the usual warning that first time reviews always are impressions of the moment more than deep insights, we were impressed with the decor and atmosphere but underwhelmed with the food and service. Because we did not have an full meal, and the menu did look impressive, take this review with the understanding I may be the outlier here.
Started with the calamari appetizer. The dipping sauce, a sweet chili mix, was great. The calamari itself was chewy in that rubbery way. The breading was not interesting. Felt a little underwhelming. I would not order it again.
Then we split a margherita pizza, the real reason we tried the restaurant in the first place. It is featured as a specialty, and was very tasty. Unfortunately for the me, there was very little texture to the crust. The experience was a good pizza with no crust.
We both had an Old Fashion cocktail. Not bad, but far from great.
Overall I am not impressed by the whole experience. Of course, your experience may vary.
Finally a personal annoyance, they have a plate splitting fee policy. I get that it costs to serve a meal. But paying for a plate and silverware is a bit...
