The Local on 50th — Restaurant in Indio

Been here twice and both times were such a disappointment. Won't be coming back, that's for sure.

The wait staff is not great. They took so long to attend to us, often felt like they forgot about us. On our first visit, we just came in for the wine and had some appetizers. The appetizers were good, but the waiter literaly forgot about us. We never received any attention of a wait staff visit after drinks and food was delivered to our table. We finally had to flag down another waitress for help. She went looking for our waiter and apparently he was behing the bar bartending. So she ended up assisting us with the check. Not a great experience, especially when we wanted a second glass of wine.

Figured, give them a second chance and what a disappointment once again. Restaurant was pretty much empty and wine order took a long time. We ordered a salad and the burger. The burger and bread were burned so badly that it looked and tasted like charcoal. They made another and it was no different. Plus the veggies were all soggy, maybe from freezing. None of it looked appealing to eat as it looked so gross that I lost my appetiite and rejected it.

Owner or manager came over and appeared to be offended because he said we didn't like the burger and it's one of the best burgers in town (so he claims but not so). He didn't even see the sad looking road kill that was served on my plate but he sure had great things to say about their burgers.

Sad to say, there was no effort to made to make things right or offer any type of resolution. All we got in return was an additude of surprise and oh well, that's to bad you didn't like our burger. Such a horrible way of handling this type of citutation. Clearly they just didn't care.

This spot is a GEM. If I could give 10 stars to this restaurant I would.

A group of 20 of us were there on a Saturday afternoon for Brunch. The restaurant management and staff worked with us to accommodate every little request we had. Their support and service made our experience there a true success with positive lasting memories.

On top of that the food was soooo good. We must have ordered every item on the menu and no one complained once about their meal. I had "The Local Benny" and it was fantastic. Their tater tots are so good that we ordered a side plate of them. Some ordered the burger with fig and goat cheese, the burrito, waffles, chicken & waffles, some kind of bacon sandwich, the french-fries with cheese sauce, the itty bitty salad with whatever dressing they have on it; we raved about all of it. Even the coffee was good (BTW, no fancy espresso or cappuccino - just coffee). The mimosas were a hit and many of us had multiples.

A big one for me is that the restroom is clean, and this one was.

What a great, fun, spur of moment eatery! Very welcoming. Modern setting. Inviting outside seating if so desired. Joanna was our server. Fairly new to the Local family. While Bree, another server, was training. Both were informative and just a positive energy. But the utmost was the Owner, Joey. Such a pleasant demeanor while he, himself checked on practically everyone in his restaurant. He is definitely very involved. His restaurant is very welcoming. Flatbread: The dough differed from others. Dough is made of rice, wheat, and soy. Very flavorful. Ahí Tostadas had a beautiful presentation. A little more ahí would have been nice. But they were flavorful as well. It's a full house after 6pm. Events almost every day between the hours of 6pm to 7pm....
