Krab Queenz — Restaurant in Inglewood

I came into Krab Queenz on a Sunday around 4PM with my reality TV friend, who hyped it up from a past visit—raving about how good the food was and how great the staff treated them. Naturally, expectations were high.

I originally had my eye (and stomach) set on the shrimp and waffles, but after a 15-minute wait just to get to the counter (when we were the only ones there), I was told they couldn’t make waffles today. No explanation, just a quick “nope” and the employee disappeared to the back again. I waited a bit longer giving him the benefit of the doubt- maybe he was the only scheduled employee for the day- and finally pivoted to a shrimp po’ boy—only to be told it would be a 45-minute wait. A bit stunned, I settled for shrimp and fries instead, asking for them extra crispy. The total? $75. And then I was hit with a 30-minute wait for that.

Already irritated, I honestly should’ve just stuck with the po’ boy. We tried to kill time at Ralph’s with some ice cream, thinking we’d be back just in time to grab our food. Nope. Came back after 45 minutes, waited 5 more minutes at the counter, and were then told it would be another 10 minutes.

Nearly an hour later, food finally in hand, I was praying it was worth it.

Now for the good news: the gumbo? Absolutely phenomenal. Truly lives up to its name—“The Best Damn Gumbo” is no exaggeration. It was flavorful, soulful, and exactly what you’d want.

The shrimp and fries, however? First bite of the fries and I thought I accidentally ordered mashed potatoes in stick form. Into the air fryer they went. Once revived, both the shrimp and fries were solid—great flavor, just completely let down by the wait and lack of crispiness.

Final thoughts: This place clearly can deliver amazing food, but the disorganization and long wait times just killed the vibe. I want to believe this was an off day. I’m rooting for a redemption arc, but unfortunately, today...

I love to support black businesses! I have visited this establishment quite a few times and every-time I’ve came to this location from 40 minutes away, it’s always something to be expected from not answering at opening time …….no juice from from their machines, not opening on time/just not open, no deserts, and this last time no potatoes smh. I wanted a boiled shrimp bag….comes with potatoes, sausage and one egg. So I went ahead and ordered so my trip wasn’t in vain and was told by the lovely, kind, sweet, cashier that the price would be the same without potatoes smh and she was very apologetic and offered an additional sausage to replace it. I said Well instead of sausage, just give me a corn and was told by mgmt. I had to pay for the corn smh lol and it only comes in 2s…..instead of having better customer service to present herself she just put it off her cashier who again is very nice and a pleasure to see when I visit. I paid the full shrimp boil price, I paid for the corn on the side and all To not get any potatoes in which they really could Have went to buy them at the grocery store…….just bad business etiquette and that was my last visit. Not because of the potatoes but poor customer service from mgmt. Mgmt didn’t even come out to apologize or offer a more positive solution versus just charging me more for less. Been passing by this place wanting to try it so I stopped by today. They weren’t crowded but I saw a few people going in and out so I’m like ok! I ordered my Food paid for it and I’m sitting there looking around waiting when I see that the restaurant has a grade C Which is on the counter hiding behind a box. There’s also a no refund sign up on the wall in full display. So now I’m sad and upset..I get my food which was the two pieces of corn, two boiled sausage, two eggs and potatoes. I think it was called the queens Fixins or something like that. Now I’m trying to figure out what’s going on back there to where you guys earned a C. So I pray over it and go in slowly… It wasn’t tasty at all and I had no desire to finish it. I’m mad I spent my $21 and I pray to the Good Lord that I don’t get sick. If I do I’ll be back to let y’all know. That C should be place in the window or on the wall where people can see it...
