This restaurant has really good food. It's greasy, but it's delicious. The past two times I've went there, we had stale bread. I don't care, I'm a machine, but my girlfriend was displeased. The food usually leaves her feeling sick but she has a sensitive stomach so that's not entirely the restaurant's fault. My problem is in the service though. I feel like the guy who works the counter is stressed out, and he has been rather snappy on occasion. Just let him cook the burgers. That guy makes the best DANG BURGERs I've ever tasted, and I think it'd be best if he could focus where he's talented rather than having to run the front as well. Also, the way you guys respond to these reviews is pretty unprofessional. Let these people speak their feelings without snapping back, it's not quip for quip, its just two immature people going back and forth. Kind of amusing though... In a way where I'm watching my favorite restaurant go back and forth like two toddlers fighting over a tablet.
Please, take this review with a grain of salt. I'm a cold-hearted cynic and I really do love this place. I have some issues here and there, like the prices take a hole out of my wallet, which means I only get to go maybe once or twice a month. Don't do anything to that dude though, I don't care if he yells at me sometimes, just have him cook instead of cashier and life will be good. Also, GET THIS PLACE ON DOORDASH!! Having this straight to my door would be a life changer.
To wrap up, great spot for people who live in town, but if you're from out of town, you might get...
Read moreWas visiting from out of town and had heard this was a good little place to grab a burger. Boy were we disappointed!! My friend and I ordered bacon cheeseburgers which were not awful but tasteless. I ordered fries which were ok but barely cooked. She had fried cheese curds or something as such and could only eat a few. We also ordered a side of deep fried mushrooms which we were both SO excited about and when we each took a bite she had to immediately spit hers back out! I choked mine down but there was obviously something wrong with them. They were rotten or sour, something but not edible. I had a soda and her water. With tip the bill was close to $50. This was NOT a $50 meal!!! Not even close. We ate what we could and prepared to leave. I went to the outer to ask for a to go box for half my burger for my dog and took the order of mushrooms up also. I was very polite and did not ask for compensation or anything but did tell the waitress there was something wrong with the mushrooms so they could check on them for future customers. She was really very horrid. She made it very clear that no one else had complained so there must be nothing wrong with them then laughed at me and walked off. I will be coming to Iola every couple of weeks for numerous mths in the future but Kings will not be getting anymore...
Read moreI used google to find a place to eat while in town for business. This place was one of the highest rated, and a couple comments stated they had amazing onion rings, so I decided to come try it
I was not disappointed
The menu is on the wall, and there are no descriptions, so outside the standard (burger, cheeseburger, etc.) the other items are up to guess what they are (or I guess you could ask, but that’s no fun)
I was feeling adventurous, and decided to try the “sweet and spicy chicken”, with some onion rings and corn nuggets.
The sandwich was a fried chicken breast with a slice of white cheese on top, and then on the bottom bun was a red sauce, a yellow sauce (maybe nacho cheese?) and jalapeños. I’m still not 100% what all I ate, but it was DELICIOUS. It was as described - slightly sweet, slightly spicy, and very delicious. The onion rings were also as others described, some of the best I ever had. The corn nuggets were just deep fried corn, but it was amazingly delicious. I was very pleased by how good everything was.
According to a sign on the napkin holder, this place has been here since 1955. A man and woman are the only staff (husband and wife I’m guessing). It’s a cute little slice of Americana; a tiny restaurant in what might have once been a drive in. I’m definitely making it my to go place...
