Be careful when you book their food cart for an event, they may not show. We booked them our wedding, confirmed the date and paid the deposit. Our wedding date comes and the time they agreed to be there comes and no sign of them. Call the restaurant and told someone would call us right back. 15 minutes later without a call we reach out and get told the same thing. People at our venue called and brushed off without any explanation as well. We had to resort to ordering Casey's Pizza.
The whole day came and went without any communication from them. The next day we reached out to the company Facebook page as well as sending messages and emails to the owners. Finally got a reply with an apology, but we learned that the owner was aware of the issue the day before and hadn't reached out. Also that this wasn't the first time. If we knew this had happened before, we wouldn't have booked them. So we felt we should put our experience out there so others could have an informed decision.
We made the best of the day but having your food vendor not show up without any communication put a...
Read moreDespite living in Iowa City for over half a decade, I only recently tried Marco's for the first time. Carryout service speed was par, I had my food within about 10 minutes of ordering. The grilled PB&J must have been put on the same time as the rest of my order, because it was lukewarm when I got home with it. The regular grilled cheese was okay. It was just that- a grilled cheese, and only that, which was a bit disappointing for $5.50. The entirety of the rest of the menu, however, appeared delicious, creative, and diverse. The venue's decades-spanning history is "baked" into its selection. The "Ultimate" was great, I crave one every time I drive by Market & Linn and see the Marco's sign down the road. The location itself was acceptably clean. There were maybe six other patrons in the restaurant, although this was on one of Iowa City's much tamer and frigidly cold Saturday evenings. I imagine this place gets packed on busier nights, as it's not...
Read moreHad food from here twice. They have options you can find in bigger cities like italian beef sandwiches, gyros, and philly's. The problem is that both times the meat was too salty. The first time my friend gave me his Philly because it was too salty. I'm not picky and I thought he was exaggerating . It was the saltiest thing I ever ate. I figured maybe it was because of a new trainee. The second time, I decided to try something different. It was also too salty. My other food was cold and soggy. So nah. I'm good on this restaurant. They need to taste their food first before they sell it.
Update: Third time was sadly not the charm. The Italian beef meat was dry and looked like something from Arby’s. The other sandwich was alright , but not something to order again. This place just isn’t for us at all. On a side note, tried Pop’s BBQ that’s close by and their food was really good, so at least we found a...
