The costumer service at this establishment is very disappointing as the employees are very rude and condescending. I went to this location today to help a friend who bought a gift card from this shop while it was called Highgrounds . We went up to the girl working at the register who had curly red hair to ask if we could use the card and if not how to get the money back from the card. Instead of being helpful she points at my friend saying I already talked to you about this and said you can't use the card here while saying she gave her the managers email last time she saw her (she did not give my friend the manager email). After saying that she start making excuses saying that she would not have been able to use the gift card at the old shop anyway because of some blender situation. She was very rude to us even though we were just trying to resolve and issue as my friend spent $30 on the gift card and has not used it at all. After she finally gave us the managers email she proceeded to go up to her coworkers and roll her eyes and talk about us while laughing. She works in the customers service industry and clearly does not know the skills needed to do such a job. We did not raise our voices or say anything rude; we just wanted to get some information. Instead of meeting us with kindness the way we did with her she proceeds to make fun of us for trying to get my...
Read moreEmployees are usually helpful and friendly, but there are a few that are unpersonable at the register. A little unwelcoming. Good otherwise.
Drinks can be reasonably priced if you completely avoid add-ons, but the food prices are just too much to ask based on their quality. I'd rather stay home at that point.
The place looks completely soulless and utterly commercial now with the new remodel, all except for the nice mural by a local artist. The cozy fireplace and wooden tables were better. Games are a nice touch, but not enough to give the place the coziness it once had. Impossible to study in a place that has so little warmth anymore.
Also, has a Shen Yun poster hung up- just so everyone is aware, this is advertising for a cult that perveys extreme alt-right propaganda via dance performances; this propoganda is circulated by China. Not a great look, would suggest taking that down.
Current owner is also a Musk enthusiast. Terrible look based on current events. Will not be giving this place my business again. Vote with your...
Read moreI’m brand new to Iowa city and wanted to try some new places upon moving here and initially this place sounded like it could be a great spot. I got a cinnamon roll and hot chocolate and quite frankly wasn’t impressed in the slightest. Flavor of my drink was very much bland compared to hot chocolate I could make at home, and cinnamon roll tasted stale/was tough. Ended up just throwing my order out and going to a bagel shop near my place of work instead. The staff seemed nice enough but very much uninterested in what was going on in front of them. In my experience 9/10 management is the root problem when it comes to staff issues/disinterest in any job. Seeing as I’m not an employee nor have I been (nor will I be) a frequent customer I cannot speak to that situation beyond those points, but I think management at the very least needs to be sure the product they’re trying to sell is at the very least edible with a team interested enough to...
