I took my girlfriend (who has worked in the restaurant industry over 30 years) to the Choate Bridge Pub in Ipswich MA on 08/10/19, it was her first time and what a disappointment. We ordered medium/rare prime rib but were served a piece of dry well done meat and a baked potato that was greenish/black in color. After sending the first meal back we were served a 2nd piece that was also well done but they covered it in Au Jus and tried to pass it off as rare. Then the brunette bartender (we never got her name) proceeded to argue with my girlfriend saying that the chef WILL NOT take 2 pieces of prime rib off the bill and that we are welcome to take it home with us as if it will magically un-cook itself overnight? I have eaten here many times and typically the food and service is great unfortunately last night was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. The server/bartender was in a position that could have turned a negative experience into a positive but she chose instead to cop an attitude and make things even worse to where other patrons were commenting on her poor behavior. With over 30years in management if I ever saw an employee act like this they would have been terminated on the spot. I cannot tell them how to run their business but I do hope they will address this and know that I will not be back nor will I continue to recommend this place as I have over the years with that being my...

We have been in Ipswich for decades and enjoyed good food for years here but unfortunately the service standards have fallen down hill, I have worked in many restaurants Legal, Chiles, On the Boarder Cafe exc, I was taken back the Monday after Christmas when a waitress with dark hair and oversized decided to approach our table with the most inappropriate tone and attitude about a bottle of soda I was finishing from the gas station I agreed maybe she was right but this Karen should’ve been more polite and if I was in ownership would remove her from the roster bringing personal problems into a service position is unacceptable I never did no matter if I was right wrong or indifferent wish this establishment was up to these minimal standards unfortunately not she wasn’t able to serve us because of her attitude so she called a younger kind waitress with a level head that did very good and received a $30 tip the lobster roll was ok nothing to right home about after a one hour wait onion rings are good I would swap out the fries to a crinkle cut, hand cut or shoe string style not the best maybe I am unforgiving but I am not going to miss coming here 2 of 5...

Lived on the North shore all my life and never been to this restaurant. When another couple suggested we go there on Saturday night I said sure. We arrived around 5:45 and it was busy but a table for four was just opening. The table setup was quick but seemed to take a while for the drink order to be taken. No bread was offered but when asked for the waitress brought bread. We placed our order, 2 clam plates,1 order of sirloin tips medium and one order salmon. After quite a time and after at least three other groups who came in later than us were served we asked what the delay was. We were told it was the order of salmon that was delaying our order. Salmon should not delay the order for that long. The clams were greasy as if the oil was not hot enough and I have to say the tips were extremely stringy and not medium, little to no red showing. Worst Saturday night restaurant meal we have experienced in quite some time. Drinks were comped, a nice gesture but hardly enough to make us return, too many other good restaurants in this area to...

One of the best(if not the best) fried clams we have had. Got there early (4:30) so no waiting. We sat at a high top table in the bar. Lots of energy in the bar ( but not to loud). We originally ordered two clam plates but it was noted that we get the same amount of clams as an appetizer without fries and onion rings. So we ordered one of each and shared the fries and onion rings from the plate. The dishes came out nice and hot. The clams were large with lots of clam bellies and they had a great tasting batter. The fries and onion rings were nice a crispy. Right from when we walked in the staff was friendly and engaging.

One of the strangest rules we’ve ever seen at a Pub was posted here. “If you have No visible wrinkles you will be carded/No out of state I.D.‘s/ CASH ONLY” Luckily for us there’s an ATM IN the front entryway and we had visible wrinkles so they didn’t check out I.D.’s! We each had a Sam Adams Seasonal Beer. My Wife had Fries and I had a grilled cheese sandwich all of which were tasty. The place was packed but service was fast and friendly. We will probably return but if we do we’ll bring more cash so we can try the locally brewed beer which is served here.
